Elton John To Host Annual Oscar Viewing Party For Charity

The Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) will celebrate its 20th Annual Academy Awards Viewing Party on February 26 at the newly re-designed West Hollywood Park in Los Angeles.

Sir Elton John and David Furnish will host the gala event sponsored by Chopard, Neuro and Wells Fargo. This year celebrity chef Cat Cora will prepare a special menu to be served to guests seated to watch a live telecast of the 84th Academy Awards. Following dinner, Grammy nominated Foster the People will take the stage to perform.

The Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party is the most highly visible and successful fund-raising event in Hollywood on Oscar night. Over the past 20 years, this annual event has raised millions of dollars thanks to the generosity of the Foundation’s supporters. The money raised is used to increase EJAF’s investments in its grant-making initiatives, which support HIV prevention and treatment programs, stigma reduction efforts, and direct services to persons living with HIV/AIDS, especially marginalized populations with special needs.

Sharon Osbourne Wants You To Rock And Wrap It Up For Charity

Sharon Osbourne has recorded a new PSA for a charity that uses greening tactics to recover food and other assets to be given to agencies fighting poverty, increasing their operating budgets.

Rock and Wrap It Up! works with over 150 bands and musicians, 31 sports teams and many major hotel chains to help fight poverty. The organization has now launched a new initiative called Win4Hunger, which is entering kind-hearted people in a draw for $1 million for every $50 they donate to the cause.

Osbourne is a longtime supporter of the charity, and has jumped at the chance to help them promote the new initiative.

Ozzy Osbourne Screams For Charity

Ozzy Osbourne put his legendary rock lungs to the test with thousands of baseball fans on Friday, when he led Dodgers fans in the Guinness World Record-holding longest and loudest scream during the 5th inning break during their game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

As part of the third annual ThinkCure! Weekend at Dodger Stadium, Ozzy and his wife Sharon Osbourne, a cancer survivor, lent their support to ThinkCure! The stadium-wide scream was also in celebration of Osbourne’s upcoming Epic Records album SCREAM, due out June 22.

Dodger fans were prompted to save their loudest scream for the middle of the 5th inning when Ozzy Osbourne and Stuart Claxton of Guinness World Records took the field and led the crowd in a “Scream for a Cure.” The stadium’s scream was measured in length and audio level in hopes of breaking the world record.

There was so much interest in Cyndi Lauper’s new True Colors Fund campaign this week that the website crashed.

The We Give A Damn campaign features a video with number of stars – including Anna Paquin, Elton John, Eric Roberts, Jason Mraz, Whoopi Goldberg, Kim Kardashian, Wanda Sykes, Clay Aiken, Sharon Osbourne and Kelly Osbourne – supporting the Fund’s fight for equal rights for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.

“I’ve come to realize equality means a lot to people who don’t have it and that, as a straight person, I have a responsibility to stand up for gay and transgender people each and every day,” said Cyndi Lauper.
