The Make-A-Wish UK Valentine’s Ball at The Dorchester earlier this month went with a bang as the event, now in its 5th year, smashed its previous record for the amount of money raised.

The 440 attendees at the sell-out event included Ainsley Harriott, actress Sheridan Smith (who did a star turn as MC), CBeebies star and Make-A-Wish Patron Justin Fletcher, MBE (aka Mr Tumble), footballer and Make-A-Wish Ambassador John Terry and TV presenter Kate Garraway.

Entertainment came from the Make-A-Wish Showband and the singing waiters of Elegant Entertainment, with the highlight of the evening being the show put on by the cast of hit West End musical Jersey Boys.

Richard Hammond Among Stars Honored By British Scouts

A host of stars have been honored by the British Scout Association for their charity work in the organization’s annual birthday honors list.

Eddie Izzard, Richard Hammond, David Attenborough, David Walliams and James Corden were among those honored. A number of winners were Scouts themselves, including novelist Jodi Picoult, chef Ainsley Harriott and Richard Hammond. Hammond – the Top Gear and Brainiac presenter – reflected on his time spent Scouting: “I look back on my days making periscopes and pin hole cameras very fondly. Young people should always be adventurous and inquisitive and Scouting offers a huge amount of opportunities to foster this.”

Another winner, Blue Peter’s Helen Skelton, paddled her way to the Canoeist Award by kayaking down the Amazon to raise money for Sport Relief.

LTTS Exclusive - The Make-A-Wish Winter Ball

Look To The Stars’ UK Correspondent Richard Barker was lucky enough to attend the star-studded Make-A-Wish Foundation’s Winter Ball in the UK, and filed this report and photos.

I was invited to meet the celebrities at the Make-A-Wish Foundation Winter Ball on Saturday 28th November. It was their 17th annual star-studded ball. The evening raised funds to grant more magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses.

LTTS Exclusive: Chefs For Heroes

I was recently honoured to be asked to attend a ‘Chefs for Heroes’ champagne and canapé reception. I felt inspired and enormously proud to be part of the project.

Paul Gayler read us a truly moving speech about his son. He felt compelled to help the British Armed Forces after his son Lee was shot in the leg whilst serving with the Territorial Army in Afghanistan. Having cooked for Royalty and pop icons such as Madonna, Mariah Carey and the late Michael Jackson, Paul’s team of the finest chefs will be serving up the most sumptuous menu (using only the finest and freshest ingredients) to London’s glitterati in a bid to raise £250,000 for Help for Heroes.

Actor George Clooney raised $14.57 million for charity when he hosted a fundraising party in London last Thursday, December 4.
