Big Names To Celebrate Muhammad Ali's 70th Birthday At Charity Gala

The cast of entertainers and sports icons slated to appear at Keep Memory Alive’s 16th annual Power of Love Gala on Saturday, Feb. 18, in Las Vegas keeps getting bigger every day, though only a limited number of tickets remain for the celebrity-filled fundraiser.

Fans wishing to see what’s happening inside this one-of-a-kind 70th birthday celebration for Muhammad Ali — which will raise funds in support of the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health and the Muhammad Ali Center — will also be able to tune in to “Ali 70th From Las Vegas” on ABC on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 4 p.m. ET and 2 p.m. PT. It will re-air on ESPN2 later that same night at 10 p.m. ET.

The lineup for the night includes performances and heartfelt tributes from some of the world’s hottest entertainers and sports icons. The list of performers and celebrity supporters slated to appear at the celebration includes Stevie Wonder, Samuel L. Jackson, David Beckham, Larry King, Ken Jeong, Snoop Dogg, LL Cool J, Common, Lenny Kravitz, Sean Combs, Anthony Hopkins, John Legend, Chris Cornell, Cee Lo Green, Joe Perry, Slash, Terrence Howard, David Copperfield, Siegfried & Roy, Andre Agassi, Stefanie Graf, Jim Brown, Randy Couture, Brad Garrett, Kelly Rowland, Dave Koz, Robin Leach, James Gandolfini, Steve Schirripa, Chazz Palminteri and Sammy Hagar. This holiday season, celebrities and children came together for “A Merry Christmas” music video, which features stars like Stevie Wonder, Dionne Warwick, Larry King, Ray J, Jordin Sparks, Jermaine Jackson, Mystery Guitar Man, DeStorm, Irina Slutskaya, the Bolshoi Ballet and others.

The music video is set to premiere right before Christmas on Friday, December 23rd, and you can view the teaser video on YouTube. Proceeds from single sales will benefit Bright Future International (BFI), a charitable organization that funds programs for underprivileged children around the world.

The music video begins with a little boy and girl communicating with each other from opposite sides of the world. The boy wishes the girl “A Merry Christmas” in the form of song, and despite language barriers and many miles, they are connected through this tune. The song garners attentions from children and celebrities around the world, each of them adding their own special harmony.

Leeza’s Place, the signature program of The Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation, will feature on Larry King’s new CNN special on Alzheimer’s in May.

On Sunday, May 1st, CNN will air “Unthinkable: the Alzheimer’s Epidemic” premiering at 8pm ET/PT. Larry’s cameras caught up with Leeza Gibbons as she interviews caregivers about their experiences dealing with the “thief of memories”. Leeza also takes Larry’s cameras inside one of her Leeza’s Place support centers where caregivers participate in programs and activities to help nourish themselves as they provide comfort and care for their loved ones.

It’s being called the disease of the 21st century as an estimated 5.4 million people have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. It is the sixth-leading cause of death across all ages in the United States, but many Americans still do not know much about this illness. The one-hour special will look into Alzheimer’s disease, who gets it and why, the race to find effective treatments and a possible cure.

Donald Trump has pledged the $2 million he received for appearing at his comedy roast last night to charity.

Trump was the subject of Family Guy creator Seth Farlane’s second Comedy Central Celebrity Roast. Trump was roasted in front of celebrity guests such as Snoop Dogg, Rihanna, John Legend and Larry King at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.

George Clooney was in southern Sudan last month to bring attention to the precarious upcoming referendum, which he says would bring independence to southern Sudan if it were allowed to be free and fair. It’s a referendum that northern Sudan does not welcome since 75 percent of the country’s oil is in the south.

“What is the worst case scenario?” Larry King asked the star on his return. “What can happen before January the 9th that should trouble us the most?”

“What can happen before January 9th,” says Clooney, “is that the government of Khartoum starts funding smaller groups to start inner fighting, like he did with the Janjaweed going into Darfur, to create chaos so that he can say, ‘Hey, look, the south, it can’t govern itself.’ The worst case scenario? Two-and-a-half million people died in the last war between the north and south that ended in 2005, and the south has a lot more guns and tanks now, so, the south is better armed, which means this could really, truly be a very bloody war.”

The Maribel Foundation – named after Marc Anthony’s sister, who died of a brain tumor – will allow specialists in LA treat children around the world using telecommunication technology.

“The Maribel Foundation is a foundation that Lynda and I have talked about forming for years, and when we both got pregnant, we decided it was something we wanted to really just do now,” Lopez told King. “Obviously, when you become a mom, your perspective and your whole kind of view on life change.”

“I’ve been helping kids — at-risk kids — for a long time,” he told The Desert Sun last week. “Thirty years. It seems like now times are even more troubled for young people.”

Ben Stiller Urges Fans To Donate To Earthquake Relief

The Haitian earthquake has hit a raw nerve with actor Ben Stiller – the 44-year-old visited the country last year with Save the Children and experienced the people firsthand.

“I went in July… and I was affected by the level of poverty there – before this happened,” he told Larry King. “The hotel we stayed in is gone. It’s levelled. I don’t know what’s happened to people.”

The actor – one of many celebrities urging their fans to donate to victims – is also pleased with Barack Obama’s quick response and plans to assist with humanitarian efforts.

Brent Shapiro was the son of Robert Shapiro, who was an attorney on OJ Simpson’s defense team in 1995. Brent – who had battled with addictions most of his life – died in 2005 at the age of 25.
