Tony Bennett To Headline Celebrity Charity Gala For St Jude

Tony Bennett, Ray Romano and Phil Donahue will headline the celebration as stars from the entertainment industry show their support for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s 50th anniversary with a benefit gala in Los Angeles on January 7, 2012.

Tony Bennett, a personal friend of St. Jude founder – the late entertainer Danny Thomas – will perform for the star-studded crowd along with Ray Romano, a good friend of the Thomas family and an ardent supporter of St. Jude, to help commemorate what would have been Thomas’ 100th birthday. The 50th anniversary gala honors St. Jude’s commitment to saving the lives of children fighting cancer and other deadly diseases.

“My father always said there would be no St. Jude without Hollywood,” said Tony Thomas, son of Danny Thomas and one of the gala’s co-chairs. “He spent the 1950’s raising money for his dream, to build a hospital for research and care under one roof for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. He reached out to his entertainment friends, who we now know as legends, to put on benefits around the country to raise money for a hospital yet to be built. Today, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital stands as a beacon of hope for families across America. My father would be so proud that Hollywood continues to support the hospital.”

Jessica Biel is set to host the sixth annual Charity: Ball on December 12.

The annual gala will benefit charity:water, promoting clean and safe drinking water in developing nations.

The evening will feature a special auction hosted by Tyler Perry, and the guest list is expected to include Amber Valletta, Christy Turlington, Nigel Barker, Jessica Stam, Summer Rayne Oakes, Byrdie Bell, Fisher Stevens, Katie Lee, Sophia Bush and many more.

Sean Astin To Face Forward At Celebrity Charity Event

Lord of the Rings star Sean Astin will join actress Vanessa Marcil at the Face Forward Foundation’s second annual fundraising benefit next month.

Also expected to attend are Teri Hatcher, Sophie Monk, Sean Kanan, Amber Valletta and many others.

Astin and Marcel are celebrity charity ambassadors for Face Forward, whose mission is to provide physical and emotional reconstruction for women and children who have been victimized by domestic or gang related violence. Face Forward vows to provide each victim with the best possible treatment pro bono.

Eva Longoria And Friends Pen Letter For Haiti

Eva Longoria has penned a letter to the people of the US to urge them to support a new campaign for Haiti.

Along with Maria Bello and Amber Valletta, the actress is encouraging people to support A Home in Haiti’s Raise The Roof campaign.

“With rainy season just two weeks away, more than a million Haitian people are still displaced as a result of the January 12th earthquake and are living in tent cities in shelters made of makeshift tarps and cotton bed sheets,” reads the letter. "Two nights ago at the Petionville Displacement Camp in Port au Prince, the rains were so hard that the entire village was a foot thick in mud by the next morning.

Amber Valletta Joins IFAW Honorary Board Of Directors

Actress Amber Valletta is lending a hand to the International Fund For Animal Welfare (IFAW), one of the world’s leading international animal welfare organizations, by becoming a member of its Honorary Board of Directors.

Ms. Valletta’s first act? Striking a pose for IFAW’s Tails for Whales campaign (www.ifaw.org/tailsforwhales). A call to action to protect the majestic marine species, Tails for Whales is a visual petition – an ever growing collection of photos with individuals’ hands posed in the shape of a whale’s tail. Ms. Valletta joins a troupe of celebrities, public figures and everyday individuals raising their hands in support of whale conservation. Actors Alexander Skarsgård,Goran Visnjic, Joely Fisher, Kristin Bauer, Ben Stein and Dylan Walsh, as well as authors, athletes, musicians and world renowned scientists, are among the familiar faces that have already posed and lent their support for the campaign.

Stars Attend Life Ball For AIDS In Austria

A host of celebrities descended on Austria on Saturday, May 16, to attend the annual Life Ball, a benefit gala that raises funds for HIV/AIDS charities that offer relief projects to international organizations that support the world’s worst affected areas.

Headlined by Katy Perry and organized by Aids Life, the event featured guests such as actress Fran Drescher, former Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson and model Amber Valletta.

“We know we live in an interdependent world where we cannot separate our fates from those a long way away,” said Bill Clinton, who also attended the event. “Tonight, you are not just enjoying an extraordinary extravaganza, you are helping children and women and men to live in far away places who would have no money, no medicine, no hope.”

On Saturday, February 21st, Tag the World Charities partnered with the American Humane Film & Televisions Unit to host a star-studded party at Hollywood hotspot MyHouse.

Hosted by Amber Valletta and Robert Parks-Valletta, owners of Tag the World, stars came out in throngs to support the American Humane Film & Television Unit, best known for its’ famous movie end-credit, “No Animals Were Harmed”.
