"But this was the reality for thousands of Haitian people, who had little time to grieve their losses and bravely started rebuilding their world.

“In December Maria Bello invited my mom and I out to Haiti to meet the amazing people who have made so much progress since the earthquake. I was amazed and inspired by how upbeat and strong the women I met were, despite everything they had been through. They took it upon themselves to start re-growing their economy and helping others do the same, and I have so much admiration for these women.

“As some of you know, my mom and I flew out to Haiti earlier this month to meet with Maria Bello and embark on an amazing journey together in Haiti," she blogged. "Our mission was to learn more about Maria’s charity, We Advance, meet the Haitian people who have made such amazing progress since the devastating earthquake in 2010, and celebrate the women of Haiti, who inspired me more than I ever could have anticipated.

“While my experience was completely life-changing… a very emotional and surprisingly positive journey that I will never forget, some media outlets have tried to tarnish the motive behind my visit and have written completely ridiculous and untrue things. The National Enquirer wrote that I went to a fashion show in Haiti and then spent a fortune pampering myself! The truth is that I was at the Haitian Artisan Fair, where the amazing men and women who make their jewelry and crafts sell them to visitors to make a living, and I bought some of their beautiful jewelry after the fashion show!! Reading this made me so disappointed in the media.

Kim Kardashian is reportedly on a charity mission in Haiti to help those in need.

The star is in the country with Maria Bello's charity We Advance, which aims to advance the health, safety, and well being of women throughout Haiti. The organization works in some of the poorest slums in Haiti, including Wharf Jeremy and Cité Soleil.

“She connected with Maria Bello and is there with Maria’s foundation and also with her mom,” a source told People. "Her intention was always to take the end of the year to focus on some of the other things that are important to her and this trip was one.

Along with Maria Bello and Amber Valletta, the actress is encouraging people to support A Home in Haiti’s Raise The Roof campaign.

“With rainy season just two weeks away, more than a million Haitian people are still displaced as a result of the January 12th earthquake and are living in tent cities in shelters made of makeshift tarps and cotton bed sheets,” reads the letter. "Two nights ago at the Petionville Displacement Camp in Port au Prince, the rains were so hard that the entire village was a foot thick in mud by the next morning.
