Keith Urban To Perform With Grammy Camp Musicians

Country music superstar Keith Urban is set to perform with seven young musicians who have participated in the GRAMMY Foundation's GRAMMY Camp music program on the AMERICAN COUNTRY AWARDS, airing live from Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas Monday, Dec. 10 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX.

The performance is intended to highlight the need to support music-based initiatives that attract young people to music and encourage their musical pursuits. As part of the campaign, a $25,000 donation will be made to support the GRAMMY Foundation’s GRAMMY in the Schools programs, including scholarship support for GRAMMY Camp.

Through the years, Urban’s commitment to music programs has been consistent and unwavering. He’s been an active participant in the efforts of The Grammy Foundation’s Grammy Camp and Nashville’s Music Makes Us program and has encouraged aspiring musicians by giving them the opportunity to perform. His annual We’re All For The Hall concerts have raised nearly $1.5 million for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, which supports numerous music-based initiatives, and just recently he participated in the Hall’s first All Access music program.

Two iconic forces that have impacted the past 50 years – the life-saving human rights activism of Nobel Peace Prize-winning Amnesty International and the incomparable artistry of Bob Dylan – are being saluted by 80 musicians who contributed new or previously unreleased recordings to Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International.

The collection is scheduled for physical (4 discs) and digital release in North America on January 24, 2012 through Fontana Distribution. It will be distributed internationally through Fontana International, a Universal Music company, on January 30.

Chimes of Freedom features a stellar and diverse group of artists across the generational and musical spectrum. Leona Lewis is to host a special benefit for the Hopefield Animal Sanctuary in Hollywood this week.

Nearly 30 years ago, Hopefield Animal Sanctuary was founded to save horses abandoned in the freezing English countryside. Today, in addition to horses, the nonprofit animal organization has expanded to give more than 200 rabbits, pigs, cows, goats, cats and more a safe, warm and loving home. Acting as ambassador, spokesperson and trustee for the foundation is singer Leona Lewis, who rose to fame after she won “The X Factor” in 2006.
