LeAnn Rimes To Sing Anthem At Charity Race

Internationally renowned singer LeAnn Rimes will open the ceremonies in Long Beach, Calif., for the 36th annual Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race on April 14 when she sings the national anthem.

Following LeAnn Rimes’ performance, stars from film, television, music and sports will get behind the wheels of identically prepared, race-ready Toyota Scion tCs to drive the historic 10-lap, 1.97-mile street circuit through the streets of downtown Long Beach, Calif.

Some of the drivers participating in the race—which is the world’s longest-running and most prestigious celebrity racing event—include Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody, Mexican superstar Kate del Castillo, reality star Brody Jenner, former UFC champion Cain Velasquez and actor Eddie Cibrian, who is Ms. Rimes’ husband. Also racing will be Hill Harper, Bill Rancic and Christopher Meloni.

“Let us stand together to make of our world a sustainable source for our future as humanity on this planet,” the anti-apartheid hero and former President of South Africa tweeted. At the same time, Earth Hour’s I Will If You Will campaign went viral, engaging tens of thousands of people to Dare the World to Save the Planet.

K-9’s Only is pleased to present the Friends of LA Animal Shelters (FLLAS) launch party this week. Special Guest Maria Menounos will be honored for her outstanding contributions made to Los Angeles Animal Shelters.

Friends of LA Animal Shelters is a nonprofit dedicated to the helping of animals in LA shelters. The organization raises awareness about our large city shelter system (amazingly unfamiliar even to many animal lovers) and promotes the fantastic dogs, cats and other animals who temporarily call our city shelters home. FLAAS works to break down barriers to adoption which impacts our city’s homeless pets. FLAAS is a volunteer-run organization that funds life-saving surgeries and special projects for orphaned animals. Their goal is to increase adoptions and help the animals in our city shelters.

Joining Maria at the event will be Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Jamie Kennedy (Malibu’s Most Wanted), Ashlan Gorse (E! News), Nikki De Loach (MTV’s Awkward), and more. The host committee includes Bill and Giuliana Rancic.

Zachary Levi Honored By Operation Smile

Operation Smile, an international children’s medical charity, honored Smile Ambassadors Zachary Levi and Giuliana and Bill Rancic at its 10th annual Smile Gala on September 23, 2011 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The organization honored President of NBC Entertainment Jennifer Salke and her son Henry who was born with a cleft, as well as philanthropist Sue Tsao. Special guests included Operation Smile Ambassadors Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, Billy Bush, Brooke Burke-Charvet and David Charvet, Sharif Atkins and Megan Follows. More than $1.2 million was raised to benefit the organization.

Every three minutes, a child is born with a cleft. One in 10 of those children will die before their first birthday. The Smile Gala helps to provide hope and healthy futures for children worldwide. Operation Smile provides free surgery for children suffering from clefts, to heal their smiles and transform their lives.

Founded in 2007 by patient Jennifer Goodman Linn, Cycle for Survival is the indoor team cycling fundraiser that has raised more than $4.5 million in support of research on rare cancers at Memorial Sloan-Kettering.   Each year, thousands of cyclists team up with friends, family, and coworkers in the ride against cancer in various cities around the world.
