Prince Harry attended a dinner this week for The American Friends of The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.

The Prince proved a draw to Sean Lennon, son of Beatle John Lennon, The Voice judge will.i.am, writer John McInerney, who penned Bright Lights Big City, and his socialite and philanthropist wife Anne Hearst McInerney, the granddaughter of newspaper baron William Randolph Hearst.

Speaking about Prince Harry, Sean Lennon said: “It’s great that he is here. He seems to be really enjoying it. But it seems as if the whole city is running around trying to spot him, so I hope he doesn’t think New York is always like this. He is well loved here.”

Jessica Ennis And The Queen Voted Most Inspirational Women

Jessica Ennis and The Queen find themselves in a dead heat for first place in an Oxfam survey of high profile British females that women find inspiring.

More than two fifths of British women (42%) chose Olympic gold medallist Ennis and The Queen as inspirational figures when asked to choose from a list as part of a poll for Oxfam’s Get Together fundraising campaign – the UK’s biggest celebration of International Women’s Day (8th March).

It is the second time in one week that The Queen has topped a list of influential women, having been voted in first place by a panel of judges in the BBC Woman’s Hour Power List. In contrast, Jessica Ennis did not feature in the top 100 Power List, but has instead received a vote of confidence from the British public through the Oxfam survey. The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, who was also missing from the Power List, takes a prominent seventh place in the Oxfam survey with 25% women identifying her as inspiring.

The stars hit the red carpet this week for the world premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, but it was undoubtedly Wellington’s hometown boy Peter Jackson who the thousands of people lining the 500 meter red carpet in New Zealand’s capital wanted to see. He’s nothing short of a hero around these parts, and some of the Hobbit hungry fans waited overnight to claim their spots to catch a glimpse as he led his gaggle of dwarves, elves and wizards to the first screening of the long awaited film.

Among the stars making their way down the red carpet were Elijah Wood, Martin Freeman, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett, Sylvester McCoy, Andy Serkis, Richard Armitage, James Nesbitt, Barry Humphries, Evangeline Lilly, Neil Finn and many more, as Wellington turned on a sunny but blustery day one would expect to see in Middle Earth.

Sports coaches of tomorrow have shown off their training skills for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.

The royals visited an academy school in south-east London to attend the launch of a new project that is being supported by their charitable Foundation.

In recognition of London hosting the Olympics, the Foundation has created a sports programme – Coach Core – with the organisation Greenhouse, one of the charities that benefited from the Cambridges’ wedding fund.

Duchess Of Cambridge Joins William And Harry's Charity

The Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry has changed its name to The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. The change of name marks the end of the first full year in operation for the Foundation, which publishes its Financial Statement for the year ended December 2011 today.

The new name recognises the introduction of The Duchess of Cambridge as a Patron. A new website for the Foundation has also been created at www.royalfoundation.com.

The accounts show that The Foundation has spent over £1.3m on charitable activity in this inaugural year of grant-making. The £1.3m spent during 2011 included administering The Royal Wedding Charitable Gift Fund, identifying and distributing donations to 26 charities on behalf of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Other grants have since been made, and there are plans for future grants – through collaborations and other projects – in the foreseeable future.

Duchess Of Cambridge Praises Children's Hospice For Inspirational Work

The Duchess of Cambridge gave her first official public speech this week, praising a children’s hospice for its “inspirational” work.  

Her Royal Highness looked confident as she stood in front of staff and volunteers from a charity and paid tribute to their efforts helping children with life-threatening conditions. The Duchess, who is patron of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), was in Ipswich to launch the organization’s new facility – the Treehouse – where dozens of young people and children are cared for by dedicated staff.

  Her Royal Highness told her audience: "First of all, I’d like to say thank you. Thank you for not only accepting me as your patron but thank you also for inviting me here today. You have all made me feel so welcome and I feel hugely honored to be here to see this wonderful centre.

Duchess Of Cambridge Visits Charity With In-Laws

The Prince of Wales was joined by The Duchess of Cornwall as he introduced The Duchess of Cambridge to the work of his charity The Prince’s Foundation for Children and the Arts at Dulwich Picture Gallery in the UK last week.   

Their Royal Highnesses were greeted by hundreds of cheering schoolchildren waving Union flags when they arrived in the bright sunshine in Dulwich. It was the first time The Duchess of Cambridge had joined her father-in-law The Prince of Wales on a visit to one of his charities.

  A spokesperson for Clarence House said they chose to see the work of The Prince’s Foundation for Children and the Arts at Dulwich because of their mutual interest.

Their Royal Highnesses will meet school children participating in the Great Art Quest, a project run by Children & the Arts at Dulwich Picture Gallery, on Thursday 15th March.

The Prince of Wales established Children & the Arts to allow young people who would otherwise have had no, or limited opportunity to access and engage with professional arts. It was set up in 2002 as a pilot scheme and became an independent charity in 2006. Since 2006, Children & the Arts has used the arts to help inspire over 100,000 children, in particular enabling personal and social development among those children hardest to reach through mainstream education.

The Duchess of Cambridge joined a group of schoolchildren with behavioral problems this week as she visited one of her charities for the first time.

Her Royal Highness visited two schools in Oxford as Patron of the Art Room, a charity which uses art therapy. The Art Room is a charity based in Oxford aimed at 5 – 16 year olds who are experiencing emotional and behavioral difficulties. There are currently five Art Rooms in schools in Oxford and London, offering art as therapy to increase children’s self-esteem, self-confidence and independence.

The Duchess has been carrying out a number of high-profile visits to her favorite charities during the past few weeks, while her husband The Duke of Cambridge has been away in the Falkland Islands working as an RAF search and rescue helicopter co-pilot.

Roger Moore Praises William And Kate's Charity Work

Screen legend Sir Roger Moore met with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge during their visit to a UNICEF supply centre in Denmark last week, and has lavished praise on the royal couple for their charity work.

The royals were in Copenhagen to help draw attention to the humanitarian crisis in East Africa by packing boxes for famine-affected people.

“They are both very interested in East Africa, it’s so close to their hearts,” Sir Roger was reported as saying. “It was just reiterating their passion for this cause – and I think it must be a passion, otherwise the royals wouldn’t just give up a day of their very busy lives and the high demands there are on them for attending all sorts of functions… and that’s apart from the RAF duties of the Duke.”
