Celebrities Go Red For Marriage Equality

Over the past twenty four hours, many of America’s most recognized brand names and Hollywood’s biggest stars have joined millions of people around the world in sharing a modified red version of the Human Rights Campaign's (HRC) logo in support of marriage equality.

HRC, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, launched a social media campaign Monday afternoon in conjunction with two marriage cases before the Supreme Court this week, in an effort to raise awareness and help showcase the broad and diverse support for marriage equality.

“Support for marriage equality is growing every day, but this one simple image gave countless millions a straightforward way to show their support for this civil rights cause—many for the very first time,” said HRC President Chad Griffin.

Fergie To Be Honored With amfAR Award Of Inspiration

On April 5, 2013 amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, will return to Brazil for its third annual Inspiration Gala in São Paulo.

The gala, once again held at the home of Dinho Diniz, will feature tributes to two honorees: Iconic Brazilian athlete Pelé will be presented with the Humanitarian Award, and pop star Fergie will be presented with the amfAR Award of Inspiration.

amfAR’s Global Fundraising Chairman Sharon Stone, supermodel Kate Moss, and burlesque artist Dita Von Teese will travel to Brazil to help raise awareness and critical funds for AIDS research at the Inspiration Gala. Ms. Stone and Ms. Moss will serve as Event Chairs alongside amfAR Chairman Kenneth Cole and Honorary Chairs Dinho Diniz and Felipe Diniz.

amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research and GBCHealth honored Bill Gates at a benefit event in Washington, D.C., on the eve of the 19th International AIDS Conference, paying tribute to the spirit of global collaboration that has underpinned the world’s progress in the fight against AIDS.

The event, titled “Together to End AIDS,” was held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and was attended by Sharon Stone, Anderson Cooper, Jessye Norman, John Corbett, Tyson Beckford, Eve, M·A·C AIDS Fund Chairman John Demsey, The Honorable Nancy Pelosi, UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibé, The Honorable Barbara Lee, The Honorable Ed Markey, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, amfAR Chairman Kenneth Cole, amfAR CEO Kevin Robert Frost, and GBCHealth CEO John Tedstrom, among many others.

Gates, the co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the former CEO and current chairman of Microsoft, received amfAR’s Award of Courage for his visionary leadership on global health and HIV/AIDS. Kenneth Cole Thanks Volunteers At Sundance

Fashion designer Kenneth Cole and the Kenneth Cole Foundation have collaborated with Sundance Institute on the development of a vignette celebrating the Festival volunteers that was debuted at this year’s Festival.

Titled “One Good Deed”, the vignette was written by Kenneth Cole Productions and produced and directed by Ricki Stern and Anne Sundberg of Break Thru Films (directors of the documentary “Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work”).

The vignette was shown in all theaters at the start of all films being screened at the Festival on January 25th, Volunteer Appreciation Day. And, the vignette also premiere online on Jan. 25th on Kenneth Cole’s Facebook page.

The American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) will host its Inspiration Gala Los Angeles on Thursday, October 27, and will have plenty of celebrity support.

Hosted by Andy Cohen – and with performances by Sinead O'Connor and Deborah Harry – the fantastic evening will include a special tribute to Elizabeth Taylor presented by Sandra Bullock. Guests expected include Chelsea Handler, Kevin Huvane and Kenneth Cole.

amfAR launched the Inspiration series in 2010 with events in New York, Paris, and Los Angeles. The annual amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala will hit Cannes tomorrow, May 19, with some very special guests.

Janet Jackson, Brooke Shields, Gwen Stefani, Michelle Yeoh, Milla Jovovich and Patrick Dempsey are expected to be among the guests during the event at the 64th annual Cannes International Film Festival. Other event chairs include amfAR Chairman Kenneth Cole, amfAR Global Fundraising Chair Sharon Stone, Karl Lagerfeld and Donatella Versace.

The annual star-studded event at the Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France, will include a formal dinner and a world-renowned live auction, all to benefit amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research. Celebrity Videos Support Human Rights Charity In New York

The Human Rights Campaign – the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization – this week released the seventh video of the “New Yorkers for Marriage Equality” campaign, which features actors Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon, the first married couple of the series.

The campaign raises the public profile of marriage equality in the Empire State following the win of three marriage equality supportive state senators last week.

Natasha Richardson To Be Remembered At Charity Gala

The American Foundation for AIDS Research (amFAR) will hold a special gala in New York on February 10 in memory of actress Natasha Richardson, a trustee of the organization who died in a skiing accident last year.

The event will also honor Elton John and his partner, David Furnish, as well as Yves Carcelle. Among the leadership committee are Liam Neeson, Vanessa Redgrave, Joely Richardson, Sharon Stone, Stanley Tucci and Kenneth Cole. Meryl Streep will also attend and will assist in presenting the tribute to Natasha Richardson.

This black-tie gala benefit at Cipriani 42nd Street honors those who have made outstanding efforts to raise awareness about the HIV/AIDS epidemic and to raise dollars for AIDS research. The gala, held on the eve of New York Fashion Week, will begin with cocktails, followed by dinner, a live auction of luxury items, and a special tribute to the honorees.

Stars Believe In Santa

Jessica Simpson, Martha Stewart, Carlos Santana, and Donald Trump have signed up to help brighten the lives of children at Christmas.

Beginning this Sunday, the four will appear in commercials for the Macy’s Believe Campaign, based on the 1897 New York Sun’s famous “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus” editorial.

Macy’s will provide mailboxes at “Believe stations” in its stores across the U.S., at which children can mail letters to Santa; kids can even write to Santa at the in-store letter-writing stations. Macy’s will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation for every letter received, up to $1 million.
