Denise Richards Designs Charity Shoes

ShoeDazzle is pleased to announce its second annual partnership with actress and mother Denise Richards as part of its “Celebrity Shoe Design Program for Charity.”

This year, Richards had someone special in mind to involve in the project as a shoe designer, Taylor “Tay” Filorimo.

“Tay,” as her friends and family called her, was just 13 years old when she was diagnosed with a rare form of Type 2 Kidney Cancer. Despite her best efforts to fight the disease, she sadly passed in September. Filorimo became the youngest-known person in the world to fight this type of kidney cancer, the same strain Richards’s mother succumbed to in 2007.

On Saturday, March 17th, Perez Hilton once again held his heralded “One Night In Austin” event at the SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas.

The legendary series, produced by The BMF Media Group, featured performances by some of today’s biggest artists including B.o.B., Dev, Timbaland, Kreayshawn, Dragonette, Cher Lloyd, Ed Sheeran, Kat Graham, Kimbra, Rosi Golan, Cris Cab and Miguel. For the first time, this year’s fifth “One Night” showcase, the 5th in a row, benefitted a charity – the VH1 Save The Music Foundation and its mission to restore instrumental music education programs in our nation’s public schools. 100% of ticket sales were donated to the cause, raising over $46,800, more than enough to completely restore a music program in an elementary or middle school.

Leona Lewis To Host Celebrity-Studded Charity Event

Leona Lewis is to host a special benefit for the Hopefield Animal Sanctuary in Hollywood this week.

Nearly 30 years ago, Hopefield Animal Sanctuary was founded to save horses abandoned in the freezing English countryside. Today, in addition to horses, the nonprofit animal organization has expanded to give more than 200 rabbits, pigs, cows, goats, cats and more a safe, warm and loving home. Acting as ambassador, spokesperson and trustee for the foundation is singer Leona Lewis, who rose to fame after she won “The X Factor” in 2006.

Stars To Go Barefoot For Charity

Soles4Souls has announced its schedule for Barefoot Week 2011, which includes media events and shoe distributions in seven cities.

As it does each year during the first week of June, the non-profit organization will be distributing thousands of pairs of new shoes in the United States while it also collects much needed donations through shoe drives at schools, churches and community centers. The charity is asking Americans to choose one day during the week to go barefoot—at the office, at school or in public— to raise awareness for the millions of people worldwide who live in extreme poverty and can’t afford shoes.

“What are they trying to hide?” asks renowned gossip blogger Perez Hilton in his brand-new PETA video slamming Florida State Senate Bill 1246, which, if passed, would criminalize filming during undercover investigations of cruelty to farmed animals.

In the video, the Florida native explains—over graphic video footage—why the legal right to record video footage of factory farms is so important: It allows investigators to alert law-enforcement officials to illegal animal abuse.

“A citizen’s right to document cruelty to animals—wherever it occurs—is crucial to helping local, state, and federal officials enforce anti-cruelty laws,” says Hilton. “What we need are more cameras on factory farms, not fewer.”

The seal-hunters crush baby seals’ skulls in with their clubs before they skin them.”

“Each year, the Canadian government allows sealers to beat and skin hundreds of thousands of seals,” states PETA on its website. “Baby seals, some merely weeks old, have their skulls smashed in or are shot for their fur. Many of these gentle animals may not even have eaten their first solid meals or taken their first swim before they are slaughtered.”
