Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) is proud to announce a new public service announcement (PSA) featuring the stellar ensemble cast of the holiday romantic comedy NEW YEAR’S EVE from director Garry Marshall (Pretty Woman, Valentine’s Day), that will appear in national and regional publications during the month of December.

Elton John hosted another highly successful Grey Goose Winter Ball in the heart of Battersea Park in London on Saturday night.

This year’s Winter Ball – which once again benefitted the Elton John AIDS Foundation – featured the first ever elBulli experience on UK soil. elBulli has been ranked the world’s number one restaurant a record five times. Its chefs are pioneers in a new way of experiencing taste, stripping food back to a molecular level, isolating components and then rebuilding to their own design or vision.

Jon Bon Jovi Opens Soul Kitchen For Volunteers

Jon Bon Jovi announced the opening of the JBJ Soul Kitchen in Red Bank, NJ this week to a crowd that overflowed the gardens and parking lot at the “community kitchen,” which redefines how the issue of hunger can be addressed.

With no prices on the menu, the Soul Kitchen serves meals to customers who have earned them through volunteer hours. The Soul Kitchen operates as a program of the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation and is sustained by cash payment from customers who are able to pay the suggested donation (or even a little more).

Jon Bon Jovi Helps Homeless Youth Open Apartments

Jon Bon Jovi and his Soul Foundation joined formerly homeless youth in a special ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday at a new Covenant House Rights of Passage apartments in the Kensington section of Philadelphia.

“The Rights of Passage Program not only provides a safe place for homeless youth, but also provides skills and experiences needed to become independent and responsible adults,” said Mayor Michael Nutter. “The city is proud to be part of such an important and unique program.”

The Covenant House Rights of Passage program is based on the simple belief that all children have the right to pass into adulthood without being abused and homeless. The new housing development consists of 10 two-bedroom units, and includes outdoor recreational space, a lounge and computer lab, laundry facilities, and offices for program support staff. It will provide temporary housing for 20 homeless youths under the age of 21.

Jack Johnson will receive the 2010 Humanitarian Award at this year’s Billboard Touring Awards, taking place tonight in New York.

“Jack Johnson, and his wife Kim, have spent the last seven years effecting change in their home state of Hawaii and worldwide through involvement in many social and environmental issues,” says Billboard magazine. "Their Kokua Hawaii Foundation and Kokua Festival support environmental education in Hawaii’s schools and communities. Johnson’s 2008 tour set a new precedent in the music industry by taking an eco-friendly approach to all aspects of production. In conjunction with that tour, Johnson launched the All At Once Campaign and gave 100% of his tour profits to local non-profit partners through his newly established Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation. Halle Berry presented Island Def Jam Chairman Antonio ‘LA’ Reid with the DKMS Linked Against Leukemia Award in recognition of his tireless work in fighting cancer and supporting organizations and charities which do the same. The award has been awarded to Cindy Crawford in the past.

Jon Bon Jovi has recorded a song with exiled Iranian singer Andy Madadian in “a musical message of worldwide solidarity” to the Iranian people in the aftermath of the country’s recent disputed election.

The version of Ben E King’s Stand By Me is sung in both English and Farsi, and features Richie Sambora, John Shanks and Don Was. Was – who co-produced the track – told Billboard magazine that the recording session came about after he talked with Madadian about “whether there was something we could do just to send out a little message of solidarity, remembering the ’60s, believing music can change things.”

“It is not for sale,” Was says. “It wasn’t intended to be on the Billboard charts, wasn’t meant to be a hit record or even pressed on a CD. It’s intended to be downloaded and shared by the Iranian people. The whole idea was to get it into Iran and tell them…to carry on, that the world is watching and we’re with you.”
