Harry Chapin

Chapin raised money and awareness in an effort to eliminate hunger.

He co-founded World Hunger Year, now called WhyHunger.

After his death, Chapin’s widow was quoted as saying, “Harry was supporting 17 relatives, 14 associations, seven foundations and 82 charities. Harry wasn’t interested in saving money. He always said, ‘Money is for people,’ so he gave it away.”

The Harry Chapin Foundation was founded in part to continue supporting the philanthropic causes Chapin supported during his lifetime.
