Keep Memory Alive's 17th annual Power of Love Gala continues to grow with an extended list of entertainment icons and celebrities attending and performing at the 80th birthday celebration for Quincy Jones and Sir Michael Caine in Las Vegas.

The star-studded tribute will take place on April 13, 2013, at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, while raising funds in support of the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health and its fight against neurodegenerative brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s and Parkinson’s diseases, multiple sclerosis, ALS and memory disorders of all kinds.

For the first time, anyone who wants to support brain health research at Cleveland Clinic can contribute through a text-to-donate campaign that is now live. Donors can text “MEMORY” to 80888 to give $10. Keep Memory Alive also has a personal fundraising page that accepts credit card donations.

The nationally televised variety show focuses public attention on America’s need for more African American college graduates and UNCF’s work getting students to and through college.

The all-star diva roster included Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Florence + The Machine, Jennifer Hudson, Jessie J and Jill Scott, accompanied by one of the most exciting groups of modern soul, The Roots, with Questlove and Adam Blackstone as musical directors.

VH1’s beloved, popular franchise, “VH1 Divas,” has announced a special tribute to Amy Winehouse at this year’s VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul with performances by Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Florence Welch (Florence + the Machine) and Wanda Jackson.

“VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul” premieres Monday, December 19 at 9 PM/8c on VH1.

The tribute will reflect Winehouse’s contribution to modern, London soul music. Some highlights of the tribute will include Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings performing “You Know I’m No Good,” and Florence Welch (Florence + The Machine) and Wanda Jackson will perform her song “Back to Black.” The Dap-Kings contributed a number of tracks for Winehouse’s Grammy Award-winning album “Back to Black.” In addition, Nas, who collaborated with Winehouse on the first single of her current posthumous album, will introduce the tribute medley.

Irish Singers Unite For Charity

Two well known Irish singers have teamed up for charity.

Sinead O'Connor and former Moloko vocalist Roisin Murphy have laid down a version of Chaka Khan's I’m Every Woman for ActionAid, a charity that reaches over 13 million of the poorest and most vulnerable people and helps them fight for and gain their rights to food, shelter, work, education, healthcare and a voice in the decisions that affect their lives.

“It’s a bit of a depressing version of the song, its more haunting and soulful but I think it represents what it’s about really well,” Murphy told the BBC.

Magic Johnson Receives 3rd Annual USA TODAY Hollywood Hero Award

NBA Legend, entrepreneur and philanthropist Earvin "Magic" Johnson received the 3rd annual USA TODAY Hollywood Hero Award presented by USA TODAY President and Publisher Craig A. Moon. A long-time humanitarian and social advocate, Johnson was honored for his work in entertainment, underserved communities and the founding of the Magic Johnson Foundation.

“He’s the perfect Hollywood Hero,” said USA TODAY president and publisher Craig Moon, “the award is about someone who gives more than just their name or money. Magic is a man who gives his time.”

The caliber of celebrities who came out to honor Magic Johnson for his outstanding work in raising awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention in minority communities was nothing short of spectacular. Guests including Chaka Khan, Samuel L. Jackson, Regina King, Russell Simmons and others, offered their words of praise to Magic Johnson, and by the end of the night there was barely a dry eye in the house.
