Stars Turn Out For Kevin James' Make-A-Wish Fun Day

Kevin and Steffiana James joined with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to host a picture-perfect Sunday of fun at Santa Monica Pier’s Pacific Park for more than 1,200 Make-A-Wish kids and their families from Los Angeles and surrounding cities on Sunday, March 14.

Pacific Park was closed for the event as celebrity friends of the James’ including Sasha Alexander, Tom Arnold, Mischa Barton, Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, Leslie Bibb, Matt Bomer, Linda Cardellini, Rosario Dawson, Drea de Matteo, Tracey Edmonds, Todd Garner, Elizabeth Gillies, Regina Hall, Ali Landry, Stephen Moyer, Parminder Nagra, Anna Paquin, Harold Parrineau, Charlotte Ross, Maya Rudolph, Adam Sandler, David Spade, Nick Turturro and Abigail Spencer came out to meet the kids, host various games and enjoy the Pier.

Nickelodeon stars Ashley Argota, Danielle Bisutti, Ron Butler, Stephen Glickman, Gage Golightly, Ariana Grande, Nathan Kress, Daniella Monet, Nick Purcell, Matt Shively and Leon Thomas spent the afternoon manning the booths, signing autographs and taking pictures with the wish kids while DJ J. Boogie kept the party in good spirits with great music.

 "This was a beautiful, joy-filled day for our wish kids and their families. We are truly grateful to Kevin and Steffiana James for hosting this celebration and rallying the celebrity community to support the Make-A-Wish mission and our fantastic kids," said David Williams, Make-A-Wish Foundation of America president and chief executive officer.

Adam Sandler, who attended with his children, signed scores of autographs and posed for pictures with wish families, while Mischa Barton had her face painted and helped out at the Ring Toss before hopping on a few rides. Tom Arnold put his enthusiasm for the afternoon into the Darts booth, and Leslie Bibb kept kids entertained at the Cat Rack game. Matt Bomer manned the Water Guns station, while Kevin James and Elizabeth Gillies took turns at the Plates booth. Anna Paquin joined Stephen Moyer and his daughter for a fun-filled afternoon, even taking a spin together on the Scrambler.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Founded in 1983, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles has brightened the lives of more than 6,300 children with life-threatening medical conditions by granting their fondest wishes. The chapter continues to strive towards its ultimate mission of fulfilling a wish for every child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition in Los Angeles County.

Comedians To Perform For Struggling Families On Christmas Day

The Laugh Factory in Hollywood will hold a very special celebrity charity event on Christmas Day.

The 30th annual Laugh Factory Toy Giveaway and Free Christmas Dinner will offer free meals and toys to struggling families and anyone who is alone for the holiday.

Seatings are available at 1:00, 3:00, 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. Each meal service will feature performances by comedians Paul Rodriguez, Dane Cook, Tom Arnold, Paul Mooney, Larry Miller among others.

Tom Arnold Lends Support To Charity Event

When a major humanitarian cause is the buzz around town in Hollywood, it is not uncommon to witness a line-up of celebrity icons step up, reach out and show their support.

The ASHÉ Foundation, a California based non-profit organization, is one of those celebrity endorsed organizations. ASHÉ is committed to changing the lives of millions of children in Africa who have been orphaned by AIDS, and also of those closer to home. Through their efforts, the foundation gathers and distributes shoes, clothing, other necessities, and services to aid the disadvantaged and underprivileged children of African nations. ASHÉ also recognizes the needs of the displaced right here in our own backyard, by supplying shoes for the homeless and disadvantaged in the Los Angeles area.

ASHÉ manages five different programs: Shoes for Africa, Shoes for Los Angeles, It Takes a Village – Sponsor a Child, A Road To Success – “Every Child Deserves A Place to Learn” and “The Power To Make Things Happen” Scholarship.

On June 24th, Hollywood icons and athletes, Tom Arnold, Kenny Lattimore, Brandon Fobbs, Howard Hewett, Essence Atkins, Claudia Wells, Jonathan Bennett, Teddy Riley, Niecy Nash, Antonio Cromartie, Harry Smith, Ananda Lewis, and Mark Allen Fenton will perform, and many more will be on tap to join The ASHÉ Foundation as they wash the feet and place clean white socks and adequate shoes on the displaced and disadvantage men in the courtyard of The Midnight Mission located at 601 South San Pedro Street, Los Angeles, from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Actor Tom Arnold says, “This is simple and specific and I can see wrapping my brain around supporting this foundation.”

“This type of community outpouring is amazing and the timing couldn’t be better,” added Larry Adamson, president of the mission. “With our economy suffering and the demand for our services rising, we know that it will take efforts like this from the local community to get us through these trying times. We are grateful to have the opportunity to facilitate this marvelous event.”

To date, The ASHÉ Foundation has traveled to Maputo, Mozambique where they distributed over 3500 pairs of shoes and clothing to a crowd of 7000. They will travel to the Cote D’Ivoire and to Ghana in early September to distribute shoes, clothing, soccer equipment, school supplies and medical supplies to orphans in the city of Abidjan, Azurretti and to the Pram Pram Health Center in Accra, Ghana. Working with The Kanimambo Foundation, the foundation will return to Maputo, Mozambique in January 2010 to distribute shoes, clothing and mosquito netting. The mosquito netting helps to prevent malaria.

The 24th annual Cedars-Sinai Sports Spectacular is to take place in LA this Sunday, June 7.

This year’s honorees are Laila Ali, Ryan Sheckler and Dwayne Wade, and celebrities expected to attend include Snoop Dogg, Joel Madden, Tom Arnold and many more.

The Cedars-Sinai Sports Spectacular has been heralded by the Los Angeles Times as the premier sports awards dinner in the country. This exciting charity event was established in 1986 in response to the promise of genetic research leading to the understanding of numerous genetic diseases found in children as well as adults.

The Sports Spectacular has provided over $18 million to benefit the life-saving work of the Cedars-Sinai Medical Genetics Institute. The Institute’s focus is to provide expert consultation and cutting edge research to find new and improved methods of diagnosis, prevention and treatment for all types of genetic disorders, including mental retardation, dwarfism, cystic fibrosis, deafness and malformation syndromes, as well as common diseases of adulthood, such as heart disease, hypertension and diabetes. Dean Cain To Host Hero Awards

Actor Dean Cain will host the 2009 Hero Awards on Saturday, May 30, to honor everyday people who have gone out of their way to help others and their community.

Set to take place at Universal Studios in Hollywood, the Awards will be filmed for television broadcast and will benefit Feed the Children. Miley Cyrus To Give Her Time For Heroes

Miley Cyrus will perform at the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation's 20th annual A Time for Heroes Celebrity Picnic next month.

Over the last 20 years, A Time for Heroes has earned a reputation as a unique event of exceptional quality and entertainment value. Most importantly, A Time for Heroes is a crucial funding source for the Foundation’s programs — raising more than $30 million since the event began in 1990.

The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation is dedicated to creating a future of hope for children and families worldwide by eradicating pediatric AIDS, providing care and treatment to people with HIV/AIDS, and accelerating the discovery of new treatments for other serious and life-threatening pediatric illnesses.

Tom Arnold Joins Love Our Children USA

Tom Arnold is certainly no stranger to charity work, and he now adds another organization to the many non-profits he supports.

Arnold recently joined the Board of Governors for Love Our Children USA, the leading national charity that honors and respects children.

Established over 10 years ago, the goals of the organization are prevention, keeping children safe and strengthening families. Its message is positive and filled with hope. Love Our Children USA has become the go-to prevention organization for all forms of violence and neglect against children in the U.S.

Among the other charities Arnold supports are the Nancy Davis Foundation for Multiple Sclerosis, Operation Homefront, After-School All-Stars, and Comic Relief. He also provides two full scholarships every year to students attending Indian Hills Community College and established the First Chance Scholarship Program with the University of Phoenix.

Arnold joins Love Our Children USA’s other celebrity board members Mario Batali, Tom Bergeron, Melissa Etheridge, Mandy Moore, Alan Thicke, and Blair Underwood.

Stewart’s Sirius Radio show launched the auction this week to benefit the Taste of the NFL, an organization that raises money and awareness for hunger organizations.

Hunt is currently collecting items from her celebrity guests and auctioning them off to raise money for the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University in Chicago. The annual Carousel of Hope Gala will take place this weekend to raise money for the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes.

Presented by Jay Leno, the gala will take place at the Beverly Hilton on Saturday, October 25, and will honor Denzel Washington for his charity work.

This year celebrates 30 years of helping children with diabetes through the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes. Held every two years, this is the 18th Carousel of Hope. From its inception in 1978, the Ball has raised over $70 million.

The gala will feature performances from Josh Groban, the Jonas Brothers, Katharine McPhee and many more under the music direction of David Foster. The guest list is expected to be huge, with stars such as Tom Arnold, Melanie Griffith & Antonio Banderas, Halle Berry, Valerie Bertinelli, Lara Flynn Boyle, Bo Derek, Geena Davis, Daisy Fuentes, Selena Gomez, Kelsey Grammar, Tom Hanks, Taraji P. Tom Arnold Roasts For Charity

Friday, September 12, saw the sixth annual Tom Arnold Celebrity Roast take place at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

The star-studded event raised over $1 million to benefit the Kayne Eras Center program of the Exceptional Children’s Foundation, and honored Academy Award-winning producer and New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch.

“Steve was a great sport for an amazing cause,” said Arnold. “We all shared laughs and our support for this phenomenal program.”

Tisch was roasted – which means to make a lighthearted and humorously mocking tribute – by master of ceremonies Tom Arnold, and video roasts were provided by Bob Saget, Will Smith, and Denzel Washington. Celebrities in attendance included Eric Dane, Rosario Dawson, Linda Evangelista, and Rebecca Gayheart-Dane.

The Kayne Eras Center was established in 1980 and is a state of the art, multi-service special education K-12 school and therapy center in Culver City, serving over 550 children, youth and adults and their families annually. The annual Tom Arnold Celebrity Roast has raised money for the facility every year since its inception, and honors individuals for their philanthropic work involving children and education. Previous honorees have included Tom Arnold, James Cameron, Budd Friedman, Leslie Moonves, Ed McMahon, Pat O’Brian, Stephen Shapiro, and Stan Winston.

Steve Tisch is the only person ever to have received both the Lombardi trophy – for his victory in Super Bowl XLII – and an Academy Award – for his work on Forrest Gump. He is extremely active in many different charities throughout Los Angeles, including the Kayne Eras Center.

Tom Arnold To Auction Motorcycle

Actor Tom Arnold will be auctioning off a very special motorcycle next month for a couple of very special charities.

The 49-year-old actor will join fellow motorcycle enthusiasts at the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum in Pickerington, Ohio, over the next two days to celebrate the grand opening of the Museum’s latest exhibit, “MotoStars: Celebrities and Motorcycles.”

The exhibition will include over 100 of the America’s most passionate celebrity motorbike enthusiasts, their motorcycles and personal memorabilia, and one of the most talked-about items on display is a 2008 Victory Vision Street motorcycle commissioned by Arnold for a charity auction to be held on eBay next month. The bike was designed by special effects wizard Stan Winston, who passed away earlier this month. The design of the bike was inspired by the current box office hit Iron Man – the last movie Winston worked on.

Proceeds from the auction will go to two of Arnold’s favorite charities, Camp del Corazon and Operation Homefront, and the motorcycle will remain on display in “MotoStars” until the winning bidder takes it home in August.

Comic Relief Brings Laughter to New Orleans

Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg and Robin Williams are back to host the 20th Anniversary of the US Comic Relief event this Saturday, November 19th. After an eight-year hiatus, the beloved event has returned to raise funds for New Orleans and the people still suffering from the effects of last year’s hurricane. Comedians such as Jon Stewart, Bill Maher, Ray Romano and Roseanne Barr have joined the cause.

The show will take place at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas as part of The Comedy Festival, with tickets starting at $95. For those unable to attend in person, the three-hour concert will appear simultaneously on HBO and TBS from 9pm to Midnight EST.

This year a special Comic Relief concert has been scheduled in New Orleans to coincide with the regular Las Vegas show. The event will be held at Harrah’s Fulton Street promenade and is free to the public. Wayne Brady is the host of this show, and he will be joined by entertainers such as Louie Anderson and Tom Arnold.

Since 1986, Comic Relief has raised more than $50 million, with 100% of the proceeds going to programs such as aiding the homeless and helping victims of Hurricane Andrew in 1992. Much of this year’s proceeds will go to a local non-profit group which is rebuilding New Orleans’ traditional narrow, rectangular houses for low-income families.
