Randy Jackson Supports Charity Walk For Children Of The Carribbean

Children of the Caribbean, Inc., (“COTC”) is hosting its first educational fundraiser – the “EVERY CHILD MATTERS 5K Run/Walk” – on Saturday June 4, 2011.

Celebrities expected to attend include Randy Jackson, Nia Long, Eric Close and Tim DeKay.

The race will be held on the campus of Loyola Marymount University, 1 LMU Drive, Los Angeles, CA. Funds raised from this event will be used to purchase textbooks, backpacks, school supplies, and to pay for CXC medical examinations for COTC’s back-to-school initiative. The goal of COTC is to provide relief and assistance to disadvantaged children across the Caribbean in the areas of education, healthcare and social development.

Former Hercules star Kevin Sorbo will hold his annual celebrity golf tournament in Vegas in June, and he wants to know if you’d be interested in watching it live online.

“How interested would you be in a high-definition video webcast of my upcoming Celebrity Golf Tournament in Vegas?” he asks. "This could mean an interactive virtual experience of the main events over June 10th and 11th, at the DragonRidge Country Club and Planet Hollywood Resort.

“Depending on interest, the webcast could include sights and sounds of the golf course, the parties with celebs, the Awards Dinner, and star-studded entertainment (music & comedy). This would be another great way to benefit my charity, A World Fit For Kids!

Keanu Reeves To Race For Charity

Actors Keanu Reeves and Luke Wilson are among the many stars set to take to the race track in this year’s Toyota Pro/Celebrity Grand Prix.

The celebrity race has been held every year since 1977, and has attracted stars such as Gene Hackman, Jason Bateman, Rick Schroder, Stephen Baldwin, Donny Osmond, Sean Patrick Flanery, Nancy Lieberman, Daniel Goddard and Josh Brolin. Last year’s race was won by ESPN/ABC pit reporter for NASCAR Nationwide Jamie Little.

Every year, Toyota donates $5,000 to Racing for Kids, a non-profit program benefiting children’s hospitals in Southern California, in the name of each celebrity racer, and another $5,000 to the winner’s charity of choice. The car company has donated close to $1.6 million to various children’s organizations since 1991.

Stars and food converged at Kitchen Academy in Hollywood last night for a party launching The Hollywood Cookbook — a beautiful 271-page hardcover collection of sumptuous recipes, each accompanied by a large photo, from the personal kitchens of 20 celebrities and 6 world-class chefs. Five dollars from each purchase benefits 20 important charities dear to the hearts of the celebrity contributors.

The cookbook covers the spectrum of food and beverage, from appetizers, soups and salads, to main courses, desserts, and even cocktails. Michael J. Fox’s Barn Dance Chicken, and Jane Kaczmarek and Bradley Whitford’s Savory Fall Stew are just two of the 107 creative and simple dishes that can be duplicated in any kitchen regardless of culinary skill level. Chefs Wolfgang Puck, Mario Batali, Joachim Splichal, Nick Stellino, Michael Cimarusti and Rocco DiSpirito also contributed recipes to the book.

At the event, the students of Kitchen Academy prepared and served 20 recipes featured in the cookbook, each one tastier than the last. This reporter’s favorite: Door Knob Sweet Potato Balls (an appetizer) from designer Paige Hemmis of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Yum!
