Jennifer Hudson To Perform At amfAR Inspiration Gala In Brazil

Jennifer Hudson will perform at amfAR’s special Inspiration Gala in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on April 28.

Inspiration, a new amfAR event series produced by Josh Wood Productions, is a celebration of style benefiting the Foundation’s innovative AIDS research programs. Held at the home of Felipe Diniz, The Inspiration Gala//Sao Paulo will feature a cocktail reception, gala dinner, award presentation, special entertainment, and live auction. Guests are encouraged to dress inspired by the theme.

The event will honor Francisco Costa, Women’s Creative Director at Calvin Klein, with special guests such as Claire Danes, Alessandra Ambrosio, Alice Braga, Isabeli Fontana and Astrid Munox attending.

Celebrity Charity Party Follows Screen Actors Guild Awards

The Screen Actors Guild presented its coveted “Actor” statuette for the outstanding motion picture and primetime television performances of 2010 at the “17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards” in ceremonies attended by film and television’s leading actors last night at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center. The event was followed by an exclusive charity party.

Voting procedures to choose the recipients were sent to the nearly 100,000 active members of Screen Actors Guild nationwide. Morgan Freeman presented Ernest Borgnine with Screen Actors Guild’s highest honor, the 47th Annual Life Achievement Award, following a filmed tribute introduced by Tim Conway.

Honored with individual awards were Christian Bale, Colin Firth, Melissa Leo and Natalie Portman for performances in motion pictures and Alec Baldwin, Steve Buscemi, Claire Danes, Julianna Margulies, Al Pacino, and Betty White for performances in television. Screen Actors Guild originated awards for the outstanding performances by a motion picture cast and by television drama and comedy ensembles. The Actor for a motion picture cast performance went this year to “The King’s Speech”, while the Actors for television drama and comedy ensemble performances went this year to “Boardwalk Empire” and “Modern Family.” Screen Actors Guild’s honors for outstanding performances by a stunt ensemble in film and television were awarded to “Inception” and “True Blood.”

Sienna Miller, International Medical Corps’ Global Ambassador, will host the opening night celebration of Esquire magazine’s 8th annual Esquire House charity event to benefit the humanitarian relief organization.

For the past seven years, Esquire has created the “Ultimate Bachelor Pad” in either Los Angeles or New York where a hot property is outfitted by top designers and advertisers to create a dynamic living environment. The House is then used to hold star-studded charity events – this year’s opening event will benefit International Medical Corps, a nonprofit that relieves the suffering of those impacted by war, natural disaster and disease by delivering vital health care services that focus on training. Joining Sienna Miller in supporting the event are Emily Blunt, Hugh Dancy, Claire Danes, Felicity Huffman, Keira Knightley, Jude Law, and William H. Macy.

Claire Danes Gives Her Thumb Print To Charity

Emmy award-winning actress Claire Danes joined millions of people who’ve added their thumbprints to a unique petition at Grand Central Terminal this week, led by global humanitarian organization Save the Children.

The thumbprint mosaic was designed by New York-based artist Ian Wright and represents the support of three million people from 40 countries who have taken part in Save the Children’s EVERY ONE campaign. The campaign aims to put pressure on world leaders meeting at the United Nations in New York, to do more to stop children dying needlessly of preventable and treatable causes.

Bono Leads Celebrity PSA For (RED) Charity

(RED) has announced the launch of The Lazarus Effect Campaign, a multi-platform campaign across TV, online and print, including an HBO documentary airing on May 24, that will help raise awareness of the transformative effect of antiretroviral medicine for those living with HIV in Africa.

Launching April 29 on HBO, the awareness campaign will roll out across various TV and online networks in the coming weeks. The campaign equates the relative value of 40 cents by comparing trivial items worth 40 cents e.g. a stick of gum, a smear of lipstick — to the value of one day’s worth of life transforming antiretroviral medication.

The campaign, directed by renowned photographer Brigitte Lacombe, features Bono, Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Julianne Moore, Naomi Watts, Claire Danes, Alek Wek, Iman, John Turturro, Toni Collette, Hugh Jackman, Orlando Bloom, Lucy Liu, Gabourey Sidibe, Kerry Washington, Bryan Cranston, LeAnn Rimes, Jane Lynch, Michelle Rodriguez, Gwen Stefani, Hayden Christensen, Julia Louis Dreyfus, Don Cheadle, Ludacris, Common, Benicio del Toro, Dakota Fanning, Christy Turlington and the Jonas Brothers.

The BBC’s longest running children’s show, Blue Peter, has announced a raft of celebrities from the worlds of showbiz and sport who have been enlisted to create their own designer dinner plates for a special auction in aid of its annual appeal, Mission Nutrition.

Bidding starts on Wednesday 28 January 2009 in a one-off special eBay auction.

Top names including Olympic hero Sir Chris Hoy, Wallace & Gromit creator Nick Park, TV star Richard Hammond and Hollywood actors Emma Watson (Harry Potter_), Claire Danes and Andy Serkis (_Lord of the Rings’ Gollum) have all contributed to the auction.

Mick Jagger, Claire Danes, Zach Braff, Martin Scorsese, Bob Saget and Don Rickles took the stage at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Monday night to honor Paramount Pictures CEO Brad Grey at a gala dinner celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Los Angeles Free Clinic.

Marc Anthony performed a lively three-song set backed by his powerhouse salsa band. Also in attendance were Anthony’s superstar spouse, Jennifer Lopez, actor Mark Wahlberg and former California Governor Gray Davis.

The event raised $4 million for the Clinic, which provides free health care services throughout Los Angeles County.
