In a 2007 spoof, Stephen Colbert ran for both democrat and republican nominations preceding the American presidential elections. In 2011/12, Colbert again ran for the republican nomination to mock the lack of separation between money and American politics, in particular Super PACs and unlimited 3rd party spending on candidate platforms.
