Jenna Elfman Performs Christmas Stories For Charity

Anne Archer, Erika Christensen, Jason Dohring, Jenna Elfman, MC Lyte, Priscilla Presley, Beth Riesgraf and Edgar Winter and film composer Mark Isham performed in the annual Christmas Stories performance over the weekend to an audience of over 500 in Hollywood.

Created in the theme of a 1930s holiday variety radio show, guests were treated to traditional and original renditions of music, dance, skits and stories. Since 1993 the Christmas Stories performances have raised more than $245,000 for community youth programs.   

This year’s production benefits the Hollywood Police Activities League annual Christmas party and at-risk youth programs and will provide meals, games and toys for children who would otherwise have no Christmas.   

LAPD Hollywood Division Captain Bea Girmala presented a city of Los Angeles Certificate of Commendation to the Church of Scientology for its 17 year-old charity event which was accepted on behalf of the Church and its volunteer performers by the President of the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre International, Maria Ferrara. “We are honored to support our police in their efforts to help children in need and give them a better future,” said Ferrara.  

 The Police Activities League (PAL) is a nationwide youth development program operated by police officers who provide positive role models for youth. The program includes educational and recreational activities for at-risk youth as an alternative to gang violence, drug use and criminal activities. The Hollywood PAL is staffed by fulltime police officers dedicated to programs that serve Hollywood youth, including swimming, street hockey, basketball, martial arts, soccer, computer activities, arts, crafts and educational tutoring.

Much Love Animal Rescue, with the support of Secure-A-Pet, will hold its third annual Bow Wow Wow Howlywood celebrity fundraising pawty on Saturday, August 22, at The Lot in Hollywood, 1041 N. Pointsettia Place.

A star-studded affair, this night of comedy, festive food and drink and a silent auction, features special tributes to Priscilla Presley for her generosity towards animals, rescuing horses, and other charitable efforts; to United Talent Agent Jacob Fenton for his unwavering support of Much Love; and Animal Advocates Carole Raphaelle Davis & Carol Sax for their relentless efforts to ban puppy mills.

A night to hobnob with four-legged-friend-loving celebrities and support Much Love’s mission to rescue homeless animals and place them in safe and loving environments, Bow Wow WOW is a tradition of good times and generous support. Last year’s guest list included a roster of Hollywood’s who’s who including consistent Much Love supporters such as Denise Richards, Kate Walsh, Tori Spelling, Kevin Nealon, Paula Abdul, Jamie King, Amy Smart, Jillian Reynolds and Jerry O’Connell, among others. The annual Carousel of Hope Gala will take place this weekend to raise money for the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes.

Presented by Jay Leno, the gala will take place at the Beverly Hilton on Saturday, October 25, and will honor Denzel Washington for his charity work.

This year celebrates 30 years of helping children with diabetes through the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes. Held every two years, this is the 18th Carousel of Hope. From its inception in 1978, the Ball has raised over $70 million.

The gala will feature performances from Josh Groban, the Jonas Brothers, Katharine McPhee and many more under the music direction of David Foster. The guest list is expected to be huge, with stars such as Tom Arnold, Melanie Griffith & Antonio Banderas, Halle Berry, Valerie Bertinelli, Lara Flynn Boyle, Bo Derek, Geena Davis, Daisy Fuentes, Selena Gomez, Kelsey Grammar, Tom Hanks, Taraji P. Henson, Anjelica Huston, Magic Johnson, Dr. Phil McGraw, Holly Robinson-Peete & Rodney Peete, Nicole Richie, Jane Seymour, Nicollette Sheridan, Forest Whitaker and James Woods all expected to attend. Clive Davis, Quincy Jones and Sidney Poitier will take part in Denzel Washington’s presentation.

There will also be handbags signed by Joan Collins, Courteney Cox, Cindy Crawford, Dakota Fanning, Mariska Hargitay, Fergie, Susan Sarandon, Britney Spears and Racquel Welch, as well as items from Trace Adkins, P. Diddy, Marcia Cross, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Andie MacDowell, Alyssa Milano, Eva Longoria, Dolly Parton, Priscilla Presley, Denise Richards, Joel Madden, Sharon Stone, John Travolta, Carrie Underwood and many more.

Proceeds from the gala will benefit clinical care and research at the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes (BDC) where over 5,000 children and young adults receive specialized care.
