For one night only, legendary actor and Renaissance man Paul Sorvino will wow audiences with his powerful voice in Paul Sorvino Sings, a one-man performance of operatic arias, popular standards and classic Neapolitan love songs.

One of Hollywood’s most iconic personalities, Paul Sorvino will be performing the concert this week at the beautifully restored Saban Theater in Beverly Hills on Friday November 11th at 8PM.

Though best known for his roles in award winning films such as Goodfellas and Nixon, Paul Sorvino has been honing his skill as a classically trained opera singer since childhood and has performed in various Broadway and regional productions in a career stemming five decades. In 2006 Sorvino starred in The New York State Theater at Lincoln Center’s production of the musical Most Happy Fella, garnering him rave reviews and introducing the world to his superb vocal range. The accomplished tenor has also performed at the Seattle Opera and Met Gala and appeared in his own PBS Special, An Evening with Paul Sorvino.

On Saturday, October 23, host Barbara Davis welcomed guests to the Beverly Hilton for the 32nd Anniversary Carousel of Hope Ball.

The celebrity charity event, founded by Barbara and the late Marvin Davis in 1977, brought together Hollywood’s elite as they raised nearly $2.5 million to benefit the clinical care and research at the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes (BDC) where more than 5,000 children and young adults receive specialized care.

Stars Shine For Charity At Do Something Awards

On July 19, the Hollywood Palladium was filled with more stars in one place than a usual Monday evening should for the 2010 Do Something Awards hosted by VH1 on the blue – not red, but blue – carpet.

Before the event kicked off, Melanie Stevenson from DoSomething.org streamed live and greeted celebrities, creating a Twitter craze. Tweets tagged as #DSawards were displayed across the stage on the electronic banner and questions for host Jane Lynch to answer were welcomed.

Host Jane Lynch, aka Sue Sylvester, delivered as many witty one-liners as her Glee character loves to partake in. The hilarious opening, which can be viewed on VH1 here, shows Lynch with her long list of good things to do, ending with a bang as Sue Sylvester look-alikes flooded the Palladium. Lynch then showed pictures of her very noble “acts” of public service with Mother Teresa, Lindsay Lohan, the 1929 Great Depression, and the Berlin Wall.

Stone Hosts AIDS Charity Auction

Actress Sharon Stone has brought new meaning to “giving the clothes off your back” at a charity auction in Italy.

The 49 year old star of Basic Instinct hosted the auction in Rome on October 26, to raise money for the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR), a non-profit organization that supports AIDS research and prevention programs. During the evening, which was attended by guests such as model Eva Herzigova, film director Sophia Coppola, and actress Mira Sorvino, Stone responded to a request from the audience to auction the necklace she was wearing.

“I want you to know I love that necklace,” she said as she unhooked the clasp and put it up for sale. “I feel practically naked now.”

Celebrities from the worlds of sports, entertainment and public service will offer unique personal experiences or memorabilia in an auction to benefit Realizing the Dream, Inc., the charity overseen by Martin Luther King III, eldest son of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and co-founded by former United Nations Ambassador Andrew Young.

A total of 100 “Dreams” will be auctioned in waves, with the first 10 lots going under the hammer on December 21st. Additional Dreams will be added to the roster each Friday.
