Former Pussycat Doll, Got to Dance judge and BM Beauty Cosmetics founder Kimberly Wyatt, has traded in her glamour for gore in a brand-new PETA ad campaign urging the European Commission not to postpone the 2013 deadline for banning the sale of all cosmetics containing ingredients tested on animals.

In the ad, which reads, “Animal-Tested Cosmetics: The Ugly Side of Beauty. Don’t Postpone the EU Ban”, Wyatt’s mouth and bloodshot eyes are encrusted with “sores” in imitation of the sickening – and often deadly – effects of chemical testing on animals.

A Swingin’ Affair!, the Frank Sinatra birthday gala to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association on December 11 in Palm Springs, is becoming as star-studded as the late Sinatra’s life.

Recently added to the lineup of spectacular talent are Phillip Lomax, whose crooner ways led him to the Top 17 on this season of The X Factor, and actor/singer Luca Ellis, who just earned three Ovation nominations for his musical on Frank Sinatra, Hoboken to Hollywood. They join the previously announced Pamela Anderson, Frank Sinatra Jr., America’s Got Talent’s Daniel Joseph Baker, Matt Dusk, and Lainie Kazan.

The three-stop event kicks off with an exclusive VIP cocktail hour at Sinatra’s former Twin Palms estate, which was designed by famed architect E. Stewart Williams and lived in by Sinatra and first wife Nancy and then Ava Gardner. Canadian jazz artist Matt Dusk, who has three No. 1 international hits under his belt, will perform and cocktails and canapes will be served poolside from 2-5 p.m.

According to PETA.org: “The VIPs featured on these unique postage sheets ditched meat from their diets either out of concern for their health, for the environment, or for animals—and our world would not be the same without their accomplishments. Although the individuals featured in this series seem very different at first glance, they are united in their respect for animals.”

The A Swingin’ Affair! gala benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association California Southland Chapter, which takes place Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the Riviera Palm Springs, celebrates Frank Sinatra’s birthday in grand style. Hosted by Pamela Anderson, the event series includes three unique celebrations in one day beginning with an exclusive VIP cocktail party at Sinatra’s former home. Pamela Anderson Says No To Testing Cosmetics On Animals

Pamela Anderson has written to European Commissioner for Health and Consumer Policy John Dalli on behalf of PETA, urging him to honor the original 2013 deadline for banning the sale of cosmetics in the EU that have been tested on animals.

“I was distressed to hear from PETA that the European Commission is considering delaying the 2013 deadline to end the sale of cosmetics tested on animals,” she wrote. "I hope it’s just a nasty rumor, but if there’s any truth to it, please do right by the European citizens who overwhelmingly support the ban—as well as the thousands of animals affected—by honoring the original deadline.

“I love cosmetics, but there’s no reason for animals to suffer for lip gloss and eye-liner; those cruel tests are from another era. Today, there are effective and 100 percent humane non-animal testing methods. We also already know thousands of ingredients that have a long history of safe use. Hundreds of manufacturers have already been using them for years! Please, don’t turn back the clock.

Pamela Anderson Writes To Royal Family In Denmark About Fur

Pamela Anderson has just sent a letter on PETA’s behalf to Queen Margrethe II of Denmark over the royal family’s use of fur.

In the letter, Anderson – who heard that the Royal family gets their fur from a “trusted source” – respectfully tells Her Majesty that fur production is cruel worldwide and encourages her to join public figures such as Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy in going fur-free.

“I had the great pleasure of visiting your beautiful country this month and was thrilled to hear from my friends at PETA that Denmark banned cruel fox-fur farms not long ago,” writes Pam in the letter. "During my visit, I learned that the royal family gets its fur from a “trusted source.” May I ask, who is the supplier? Undercover investigations into fur farms have shown cruelty to animals across the board, from Denmark to the United States. Most fur comes from China, where animals – including dogs and cats – are bludgeoned and even skinned alive for their fur, as seen in this short video. Minister Eva Kjer Hansen of Denmark stated, “Mink breeders break animal welfare rules. And that is unacceptable.” Animals trapped in the wild are no better off: Many suffer for hours and even chew off their own limbs to escape.

Joan Jett Delivers Seal Hunt Letter To Norway

Following the World Trade Organization’s decision to formally hear Norway’s and Canada’s case against the European Union’s ban on seal product imports, rock icon Joan Jett has personally delivered an urgent letter on PETA’s behalf to Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Støre calling on Norway to make the hearing and submissions open to the public.

Just one company in Norway purchases close to 80 percent of Canadian seal pelts, and this company has received funding for years from the Norwegian government. Jett joins Canadians Pamela Anderson and Sarah McLachlan in requesting that the hearing and submissions be made public.

“In the wake of the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) decision to formally hear Norway and Canada’s case against the E.U.’s ban on seal imports, I urge you to please open up hearings to the public and make all submissions publicly available when they are filed,” writes Joan Jett. "Norway buys most seal pelts from Canada, then ships them for sale in countries that aren’t aware of the cruelty. Just one Norwegian company purchases close to 80 percent of the pelts. Norwegian citizens deserve to know that their government has provided significant financial assistance to this company for years, which indirectly helps prop up Canada’s cruel baby-seal slaughter. For a country so compassionate that it would ban fur from fashion shows, supporting Canada’s seal massacre just seems ridiculous.

Pamela Anderson Stands Up For Monkeys

Pamela Anderson has written a letter to RC Deka, director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), urging him to retire the aging monkeys at AIIMS’ Central Animal Facility in Delhi to a sanctuary and switch to modern, humane non-animal research and training methods.

Anderson sent the letter on behalf of PETA India after watching video footage taken secretly inside AIIMS. In the letter, she points out that many of the monkeys at AIIMS have been languishing in cramped, rusty cages for more than a decade and that one monkey has been suffering in these conditions for nearly 20 years. Anderson also reminds Deka that laboratories in India are required to rehabilitate animals after three years of use. Being jailed in a cage at AIIMS cannot be considered true rehabilitation.

“It broke my heart to see the suffering,” writes Anderson. “But the animals suffering behind closed doors at AIIMS must endure this nightmare every day. I was shocked to see that rabbits are forced to live in wire-floored cages; the sharp wire digs into their sensitive footpads and can cause their feet to become stuck.”

Pamela Anderson has been getting her hands dirty for animals – by cleaning out cages at a wildlife refuge in California.

The former Baywatch actress has been working as a volunteer at the California Wildlife Center in Santa Monica, cleaning birdcages, feeding owls and more.

“I clean out all the poop in the birdcages and feed all the little owls – the baby ones – with frozen mice parts. Occasionally a little frozen paw or ear will fall off!” she told the U.K.‘s Fabulous magazine. "Sometimes I’m given the job of releasing animals back into the wild, but I’m the worst driver and have no sense of direction. I was given a box with a crow in it and we got so lost. I went to three different places to try to find where they’d originally caught her!"

Pam Anderson Asks Congress: End Harmful Chimpanzee Experiments

Pamela Anderson is pressing Congress to help find a cure for hepatitis C — a disease she’s battling — without experimenting on chimpanzees.

She’s calling on both Rep. Frank Pallone and Rep. Henry Waxman to ban invasive chimpanzee experiments and support modern, human-based research methods. In a letter dated May 13, Ms. Anderson asks the congressmen to co-sponsor the Great Ape Protection Act (H.R. 1326). The bipartisan legislation would phase out invasive chimpanzee experiments and release all federally owned chimpanzees to sanctuaries. The bill currently has more than 140 congressional co-sponsors.

“As one of the more than 3 million Americans living with hepatitis C, I am writing to ask that you take steps to end ineffective and cruel research using chimpanzees and direct federal funds to modern, human-based research methods that will be more effective at finding a vaccine and treatment for hepatitis C and other deadly diseases,” writes Anderson. "I implore that you encourage the National Institutes of Health and other agencies to invest in more effective and efficient human cell based technologies that are more likely to yield successful results.

According to website The Daily Beast, the SexyBack singer raised $9.3 million for the Shriners Hospitals for Children in 2009. Second place went to Madonna, who raised $5.5 million for Raising Malawi, followed by Pamela Anderson ($4.8 million for PETA), Oprah ($4 million for Oprah’s Angel Network), and Bono ($3.5 for the ONE Campaign).

Ludacris To Reunite With Tommy Lee For Charity

Motley Crue drummer and former husband of Pamela Anderson, Tommy Lee, and rapper Ludacris will reunite this Saturday, August 29, for a special culinary charity event.

The event will be held at Ludacris’ restaurant, Straits, in Atlanta for a fund-raiser benefiting his Ludacris Foundation. The Foundation was created to inspire youth to take responsibility for their future, build stronger families and foster community economic development in the community. The Ludacris Foundation is committed to helping youth help themselves.

There will even be an after-party for the event, which will take place from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. after Lee’s final encore with Motley Crue at the Aarons Amphitheater at Lakewood.

Pamela Anderson Steps Up For The Apes In Florida

Pamela Anderson was in Florida on Saturday, March 14, to celebrate the 20th anniversary for the Animal Rights Foundation of Florida (ARFF) – an event hosted by Bob Barker – after writing an open letter to Florida governor Charlie Crist about ‘road-side zoos’ in the state, in which she says chimpanzees and other animals are kept in less-than-adequate enclosures.

“With so many frustrated great apes stewing in squalid facilities in Florida, it is only a matter of time before a similar tragedy strikes your state,” she wrote. “PETA and I appeal to you to take action to prevent Florida’s roadside zoos from keeping great apes and to ensure that these intelligent primates are transferred to approved sanctuaries to live out the remainder of their lives in suitable surroundings.”

Held at the Broward County Convention Center in Ft Lauderdale, the event featured delicious vegan food, entertainment, an awards ceremony, speeches, book signings, an open bar featuring organic Floridian wine and a silent auction that included items such as an “LA Confidential” poster signed by Kim Basinger and a jersey signed by Yao Ming.
