Kristen Johnston To Host Lucille Lortel Awards

Actress Kristen Johnston will co-host this year’s Lucille Lortel Awards at the Off-Broadway Ballroom at the Marriott Marquis in New York on May 3 to benefit the Actors Fund of America.

Now in its 24th year, the awards will be presented by Jeremy Irons, Parker Posey, Kerry Butler, John Glover, Marsha Mason, Phyllis Newman and many others.

The Lucille Lortel Foundation was created by Lucille Lortel to foster excellence and diversity in the theatre, as well as to faithfully preserve the rich history and support the continued prosperity of Off-Broadway. The Foundation has several major programs, including its general operating support program that has provided millions of dollars to small to mid-size theatres in New York City, universities, and theatre service organizations. Johansson and Alba Kick Off Million Pair March

Stars such as Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle and Jessica Alba are donating their shoes and support to the Spring Cleaning/Million Pair March organized by Soles4Souls.

The charity provides aid for those in need around the world, and is collecting shoes and funds for a Fall shipment to refugee camps in the war-torn Sudan.

“Bringing sandals to remote villages will change the quality of an impoverished person’s life overnight,” said Wayne Elsey, Founder of Soles4Souls. “Wearing shoes can stop hookworm infections, as well as cuts and puncture wounds from sharp objects that can result in permanent injury. It helps to end the cycle of pain.”
