Corbin Bleu To Help Kids Write To President Obama For Charity

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Adam Hicks (Zeke and Luther), Corbin Bleu (High School Musical), Katerina Graham (Vampire Diaries), Penny Marshall and many others will attend Children Mending Hearts’ 4th annual Please Mr President Workshop in Los Angeles on May 7.

Children Mending Hearts, a national non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, will host its 4th Annual Please Mr. President Workshop, a campaign designed to empower at-risk kids across the nation through creative expression. During this day-long event, children will write letters to President Barack Obama imploring him to pay attention to the realities of America’s homeless youth. Attendees will also dance, have the chance to participate in photography workshops and create artwork that will be sent to children living in Haiti and Japan in an effort to give each child a voice and sense of global community. Additionally, jewelry-making workshops will be available to at-risk mothers who attend the event.

Celebrities To Attend Annual Night At Sardi's Charity Event

The 18th annual A Night at Sardi’s event – the annual star-studded benefit for the Alzheimer’s Association – will honor the entertainment industry’s Marshall family (Penny, Garry and Ronny) and producer Susan Dietz for their contributions in the fight against Alzheimer"s disease.

This year’s highly-anticipated gala is on Thursday, March 18, at the Beverly Hilton. Dozens of movie and television celebrities and entertainment industry leaders will attend. Following the awards presentation and dinner, favorites from television, film, and theater will perform selections from “And the World Goes Round,” the music of Kander and Ebb, including hits from “Chicago,” “Cabaret,” “Funny Lady,” and “New York, New York.”

The cast includes David Hyde Pierce, Eric McCormack, Samantha Harris and Bryan Cranston among many others. Event co-chairs include Laurie Burrows Grad and Peter Grad. Honorary Co-Chairs are David Hyde Pierce and James Burrows.

Celebrities Join New York Cares Campaign

New York City has made itself some celebrity friends, and for the third summer in a row they are going to be out and about encouraging New Yorkers to volunteer.

New York Cares was founded by a group of friends who wanted to take action against the serious social issues facing the Big Apple. Their goal was to meet pressing community needs by mobilizing caring New Yorkers in volunteer service – and this continues to be their mission today. They bring vital volunteer support to more than 850 nonprofit agencies, public schools and other deserving organizations throughout the five boroughs of New York, and help nearly 400,000 disadvantaged New Yorkers every year.

The organization has just launched their celebrity advertising campaign – which features Whoopi Goldberg, Jimmy Smits, Alec Baldwin, and Penny Marshall in a series of posters and ads throughout the city – in a bid to coax more people into giving up their time to help others.
