Elton John and David Furnish hosted a massive group of celebrities in London on October 30 for his annual charity Winter Ball.

Among those who attended were Stephen Fry, Elizabeth Hurley, Gemma Arterton, Ben Kingsley, Erin O’Connor, Graham Norton and many others.

For one night only the site of the new American Embassy was transformed into a dazzling French boudoir. Guests sipped bespoke Grey Goose cocktails in surroundings designed by Jean Paul Gaultier, and were entertained by Sir Elton, who stepped in for the ill Lily Allen.

Lily Allen and Bryan Ferry will headline a special concert to raise money for Britain’s original, not-for-profit multi-disciplinary arts centre next month.

The singers will join Temposhark, Samuel and the Dragon, The Cocknbullkid and I Blame Coco at the gig to benefit the Institute of Contemporary Art in London. Established in 1947 by a collective of artists, poets and writers to explore contemporary culture across the broadest platforms, the ICA has been at the forefront of artistic experiment since its formation and has presented some of the most radical exhibitions, artists, films, music and thought to have shaped our world. It continues today as a dedicated space for new, experimental and independent arts practice and ideas.

Lily Allen To Sell Prams For Charity

British recording artist, talk show host, and actress Lily Allen is selling prams from one of her performances to raise money for charity.

The ultra-posh Silver Cross Balmoral prams, which were wheeled around on stage during one of Allen’ recent performances, will be sold off to raise cash for the star’s chosen charity, War Child.

The high-end prams usually fetch close to £1,000 and are described as “the pram of choice for royals and celebrities alike for over 100 years.”

Elton John held his annual Winter Ball to benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation in London last night – and some very special guests helped out.

The event, held at the Grey Goose Hotel Du Palais at the Grosvenor in Mayfair, featured a performance by Kelly Rowland and three unique cocktail bars designed by couturier Roland Mouret, model Lily Cole and singer Lily Allen. Guests included Elizabeth Hurley, members of the Sugababes and The Saturdays, and Daniel Merriweather.

“The Foundation prides itself not only on producing beautiful events, but on ensuring that every penny they raise goes directly to our charitable work,” said Sir Elton and his partner, David Furnish. "This event is no exception, thanks to the generosity of Grey Goose. The Foundation is now one of the largest HIV/AIDS charities in the world, yet our overheads are amongst the smallest – currently 4.3%. Over the past year, we have committed to initiatives that change not only the way services are received in local projects but at a national or international level. These include working with the Clinton Foundation to expand and refine treatment services for over 20,000 children in Malawi, Lesotho, Tanzania, Zambia and Kenya, and with Mothers 2 Mothers in the same countries to stop HIV-positive pregnant women transferring the virus to their babies. In Ukraine, a national programme for children will change the way HIV–positive children are told about their illness and how they are treated in school and in society.

Coldplay To Rock For Mencap

Coldplay have confirmed that they will play a charity concert benefiting Mencap on December 19 as part of the charity’s Big Noise Sessions.

“We’re proud to support Mencap and, for me, it’s exciting to play my hometown,” said singer Chris Martin. “We haven’t played there since 2000. It’s going to be really, really special.”

The show – which will also feature Lily Allen – will take place at Exeter Castle in the UK, with tickets costing £50. Tickets will be made available in three batches: the first batch will be offered to subscribers on the Little Noise Sessions website on December 8, with the second batch being sold at HMV Exeter on December 10. The final batch will go on general sale through HMV on December 11.

A host of stars joined British boy band Take That in London last week for a very special charity party with a twist.

The PlayStation3 SingStar Take That Extravaganza was held in Notting Hill to launch the band’s new karaoke computer game and raise funds for Body and Soul, a charity dedicated to supporting children, teenagers and families across the UK who are living with or are closely affected by HIV.

The event saw famous faces such as Lily Allen, Paloma Faith, Rachel Stevens and Pixie Geldof party the night away as Gary Barlow and the boys performed renditions of their best known hits. Model Kate Moss was even spotted leading a conga line through the crowd.

British store Selfridges hosted a celebrity garage sale for charity in London during the weekend.

Items were donated by Gwyneth Paltrow, Little Britain star David Walliams, TV presenter Denise van Outen, Lily Allen, Davina McCall, members of the All Saints, Jodie Kidd and many more, with proceeds going to Mothers4Children, a charity dedicated to harnessing the compassion of women to create a powerful and enduring platform for change. Established by model and actress Lisa B, the foundation has trustees such as Yasmin Le Bon, Trinny Woodall, Anya Hindmarch and Natalie Massenet, and raises money for charities such as Kids Company and the Foundation for the Relief of Disabled Orphans.

Thousands of people turned out for the event, which featured 45 stalls – many of which were managed by the stars themselves.

British Stars Sing For Palestinian Refugee Children

Dozens of British celebrities were out in force at the Cafe de Paris in London last night for the annual Hoping’s Got Talent charity karaoke event.

Judged by Kate Moss and X Factor’s Louis Walsh, the event raised money for the Hoping Foundation, an organization that is dedicated to showing Palestinian refugee children that their struggle to transform their lives is encouraged and supported by people in Britain and throughout the rest of the world.

The evening attracted a plethora of British entertainers, including Lily Allen, Guy Ritchie, David Walliams, Jeremy Clarkson, Sienna Miller, Jemima Khan, Will Young, Tracey Emin, Shane MacGowan and socialite Kimberly Stewart. Lost’s Matthew Fox also made an appearance.

Last month, Look To The Stars brought you news about a fantastic charity auction that offers Filofax pocket organizers personalized by celebrities. We can now announce that Kylie Minogue has joined the auction, and fans have a special opportunity to bid on her personally designed Filofax.

Filofax has been working with Breast Cancer Campaign since 2004 when they launched a pink pocket organizer to raise funds for the charity. Since then the range has expanded to include a pink pen, lizard print leather pocket organizer and a matching passport cover, purse and accessory case – Filofax has so far raised over £450,000 for the charity from the sale of these items. British singer Lily Allen has announced her plans to travel overseas for charity and explained why.

“I sometimes feel like my life is a bit empty – as ridiculous as that sounds to some people, a bit vacuous,” she told Q Radio host Samanthi. "It is pop music and people do talk about it too much and sometimes I feel like I want to have a bit more substance in my life.

“I am going to be going to Afghanistan or the Congo in a few weeks to help War Child. They want me to go there and see how the money I have earned for them in the past is being used. And that is the stuff I get really excited about.”

The Television Academy Foundation is offering an array of exclusive items and experiences to bidders through a special online charity auction hosted by eBay Giving Works.

Artists Create Celebrity Easter Eggs

What do two graffiti-style artists, a tattooist, a fashion designer and a patissier all have in common? They have all joined with British chocolatiers Thornton’s to create special Easter Eggs for an auction benefitting Barnardo’s.

Art and design duo Id-Iom hand-painted the likenesses of Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Victoria Beckham, David Beckham, singer Lily Allen, and Prince Harry on their lot, while fashion designer Henry Holland used purple, pink, yellow, green, and turquoise icing to decorate a 1kg chocolate egg. Eric Lanlard, famous for creating Madonna’s wedding cake and Brooklyn Beckham’s first birthday cake, turned his hand from cakes to chocolate for his edible work of art. Tattooist to the stars Louis Molloy, whose impressive client list includes David Beckham, created a design incorporating swallows and bluebirds.

The eggs are currently available on eBay, and will help Barnardo’s continue it’s mission to ensure that all all children and young people are free from poverty, abuse and discrimination.

Lunchbox Auction Will Help Feed Hungry Children

Forget what they say about good things coming in small boxes, better things come in lunch-boxes created by artists, actors, chefs, musicians, photographer, politicians, and fashion designers to shed light on the plight of hungry children in New York City and South Africa. These original artistic efforts are for the Lunchbox Auction.

The artistry is often unique and often indicative of the personality behind the work. World renown chef Bobby Flay’s 2005 lunchbox was decorated with spices. Bono’s lunchbox was simply red signifying his (RED) campaign. The bidding for lunchbox items will commence online on December 6, 2007

Elton John, P. Diddy and Andrew Lloyd-Webber to Celebrate Life of Princess Diana

This Sunday, July 1st, music will fill the skies in remembrance of Princess Diana. The event was organised by her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry to celebrate her life, ten years after her death.

Concert For Diana will take place at Wembley Stadium in London, and is showcasing a wide variety of musical styles, from Andrew Lloyd-Webber to P. Diddy. Legends Elton John, Rod Stewart and Tom Jones will be joined by the likes of Joss Stone, Nelly Furtado, Pharrell Williams, Kanye West and James Morrison.

Many more performances will take place during the 8-hour-long event, including those by Duran Duran, Take That, Lily Allen and the English National Ballet.
