Big Names To Celebrate Muhammad Ali's 70th Birthday At Charity Gala

The cast of entertainers and sports icons slated to appear at Keep Memory Alive’s 16th annual Power of Love Gala on Saturday, Feb. 18, in Las Vegas keeps getting bigger every day, though only a limited number of tickets remain for the celebrity-filled fundraiser.

Fans wishing to see what’s happening inside this one-of-a-kind 70th birthday celebration for Muhammad Ali — which will raise funds in support of the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health and the Muhammad Ali Center — will also be able to tune in to “Ali 70th From Las Vegas” on ABC on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 4 p.m. ET and 2 p.m. PT. It will re-air on ESPN2 later that same night at 10 p.m. ET.

The lineup for the night includes performances and heartfelt tributes from some of the world’s hottest entertainers and sports icons. The list of performers and celebrity supporters slated to appear at the celebration includes Stevie Wonder, Samuel L. Jackson, David Beckham, Larry King, Ken Jeong, Snoop Dogg, LL Cool J, Common, Lenny Kravitz, Sean Combs, Anthony Hopkins, John Legend, Chris Cornell, Cee Lo Green, Joe Perry, Slash, Terrence Howard, David Copperfield, Siegfried & Roy, Andre Agassi, Stefanie Graf, Jim Brown, Randy Couture, Brad Garrett, Kelly Rowland, Dave Koz, Robin Leach, James Gandolfini, Steve Schirripa, Chazz Palminteri and Sammy Hagar. Boxing icons scheduled to attend the celebration include Sugar Ray Leonard, Evander Holyfield, Ken Norton, Earnie Shavers, Leon Spinks, Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini and Tommy “Hitman” Hearns. Selena Gomez hit the stage for UNICEF in Los Angeles, with Justin Bieber, David Beckham and Ashley Tisdale on hand for support.

Gomez and her band performed at her second annual charity concert at the House Of Blues to benefit the U.S. Fund for UNICEF’s work providing lifesaving nutrition, clean water, medicine, safety and education to children worldwide.

“Thank You to all who came out to the show last night at House of Blues on Sunset,” she wrote on Facebook. "That is one of the shows I look forward to the most and cannot wait for next year’s show.

David Beckham Visits Sick Kids In Australia

David Beckham visited sick children at a special hospital in Australia earlier this week.

The soccer legend spent an hour at the Royal Melbourne Children’s Hospital, while touring with his LA Galaxy team.

“It’s one of the best things I love to do,” he told NineMSN. "I’m an ambassador for UNICEF, and me and my wife have our own charities as well. Going to see the kids, going to see their smiles, giving them a smile, it’s something that I do believe heals and gives them that little bit of happiness. It was a good trip.

David Beckham has joined with British supermarket chain Sainsbury’s to front its Active Kids campaign and promote its sponsorship of the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

“I know the difference leading a healthier and more active life can make to kids and I have been really impressed with the long-term commitment that Sainsbury’s has made,” said Beckham. “I am looking forward to working with Sainsbury’s to help UK kids have fun, become even more active and introduce them to Paralympic sports through the 1 Million Kids Challenge.”

David Beckham will be encouraging children of all ages and abilities to ‘have a go’ and take part in several of Sainsbury’s initiatives, including the Million Kids Challenge and Active Kids 2012. The supermarket chain wants to get a million kids to try Paralympic sports.

UNICEF and David Beckham have launched an appeal in The Mirror newspaper, in aid of the charity’s East Africa Children’s Crisis appeal.

“I am writing to you in my role as a Unicef Goodwill Ambassador and also as a father, with an urgent plea for support,” writes Beckham. "The children of Somalia and East Africa are in the middle of an unthinkable food crisis.

“As you will know from the coverage in this paper over the past few days, famine has struck in Somalia and the worst droughts in 50 years have brought millions to the brink of disaster across the Horn of Africa.

Beckhams Donate Baby Gifts To Charity

Due to an overwhelming number of presents for their new baby, David and Victoria Beckham are donating many of them to charity.

The couple gave birth to baby number four – who they named Harper Seven – earlier this month, and were inundated with gifts for the infant. Britain’s Daily Mail is reporting they plan to donate a large number of the items to charity shops around Beverly Hills.

“David and Victoria have a policy that they don’t accept gifts and endeavour to return anything that is sent to them,” a source told the paper. "If anyone contacts the office in Los Angeles, they’re told that – but often they send things anyway or they send presents without a return address.

The 2011 edition of the critically acclaimed SportsCenter’s “My Wish” series, conducted in collaboration with the Make-A-Wish Foundation , will return Sunday, July 17, during the 10 a.m. ET edition aired on ESPN2. Sport Relief Brings In The Charity Cash

Britain has just hosted a weekend of sport and entertainment to benefit Sport Relief’s work helping vulnerable people – and a whole bunch of celebrities were involved.

The weekend kicked off with the Sport Relief TV Extravaganza on BBC One and Two on Friday night, hosted by Richard Hammond, Davina McCall and others. The show raised an unbelievable £31.6 million for charity, and featured appearances by Annie Lennox, Robbie Williams, Emma Bunton, Cheryl Cole, Andy Murray, Kylie Minogue and many others. David Beckham even got warm and cosy in the bath with comedian James Corden in a special comedy sketch filmed especially for the event.

Michael Parkinson also took part in an episode of Ashes to Ashes, and there were special charity episodes of TV shows such as Masterchef.

David and Victoria Beckham have donated over £1million (US$1.5 million) to help children in the last five years through their charity.

The Victoria and David Beckham Charitable Trust was set up by the couple to support initiatives for sick and disabled children. Past charities supported include UNICEF and organizations which help disabled children, such as those which provide wheelchairs to those in need.

Although donations to the Trust have fallen by £90,000 in the last year, the charity still gives to good causes.
