Kim Kardashian has blogged about a very special charity event taking place in March 2012.

“This year I was diagnosed with psoriasis, a hereditary, genetic, autoimmune disease that effects over 125 million people around the world and currently has no cure,” she wrote on her official blog. "On March 4 2012 it will be the sixth annual Walk To Cure Psoriasis and I hope you guys will join me in helping raise funds and awareness for the event. Over the last five years they have raised almost 1.5 million dollars to help research for a cure and there are now 22 walks across the country! They also started the first ever DNA BioBank, which is used by researchers across the country and the money from the walk goes directly to this.

Call To Ban Shark Fins Gains Support Of Some Big Fish

On both sides of the world, the movement to ban the trade and sale of shark fin products has gained an impressive roster of noteworthy supporters including Leonardo DiCaprio, James Cameron, Wolfgang Puck, Gordon Ramsey, Richard Branson, Yao Ming, Mario Batali, Edward Norton, and Chinese billionaire Zhang Yue.

In California, WildAid, NRDC, and The Humane Society of the United States worked with DiCaprio, Norton, and Yao to write a joint letter to Governor Jerry Brown, urging him to sign California’s Assembly Bill 376, which will ban the import, trade, and possession of shark fin in California. AB 376 has already passed both legislative bodies with bi-partisan support – and currently awaits the Governor’s signature. The letter, also signed by over 50 additional notables including James Cameron, musician Jackson Browne, and actress Rosario Dawson, asserts that the ban is “absolutely necessary if we are to conserve sharks and, in effect, our entire ocean ecosystem.”

In an effort to help the homeless, Longoria is working with a charity called A Home for Haiti in order to raise money to provide durable, waterproof tents to the residents of Haiti.

Rosario Dawson Invites Celebrity Friends To Fight Immigration Laws

Rosario Dawson has brought together stars such as Eva Longoria, Wilmer Valderrama, Jessica Alba, Common, Amy Smart and Carla Gugino for a new PSA campaign to fight Arizona’s new immigration laws.

Dawson has launched the United We Win campaign through Voto Latino, an organization she co-founded in 2004. The new law – called SB 1070 – allows police to question any individuals they suspect are illegal immigrants, and all legal immigrants are required to carry registration documents at all times.

“I haven’t made it a secret that I’m strongly opposed to the Arizona law and I’ve been pretty vocal about it,” says Eva. "It’s unfortunate that this immigration issue has been on the national agenda for the past three administrations.

James Cameron To Attend Avatar Home Tree Event On Earth Day

Following their visit to the Amazon rainforests last week, James Cameron and Sigourney Weaver headed back to Washington DC to talk about their experience.

“A lot of people around the world consider the Amazon the last great river and the Amazon forest is vital to the survival of the whole planet,” said Weaver. “[We saw] tribal chieftains talking about their grandchildren, how the way of life that they’ve lived for centuries will disappear on a whole section of the Amazon.”

The pair were in Brazil to raise awareness of the indigenous communities’ battles to stop the massive Belo Monte Dam on the Xingu River in the Amazon rainforest. On returning to the US, they learnt a judge had ordered the suspension of the preliminary license for the Belo Monte hydroelectric dam and the cancellation of the auction.

Joel Madden and Rosario Dawson have put pen to paper and authored articles for the latest issue of Los Angeles Confidential magazine about the causes they support.

Rosario Dawson is a board member of V-Day, a non-profit devoted to ending violence against girls and women. In Los Angeles Confidential she opens up about the abuse taking place in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as soldiers work to destroy and take over communities in order to obtain rich natural resources—the same resources being used to manufacture cell phones, ipods, etc. Dawson hopes to provide awareness “about these atrocities” in order to “pressure our electronic provides into buying only ‘conflict free’ products.”

“At the Panzi Hospital in the city of Bukavu in the DRC, Dr Denis Mukwege sews up a dozen women and girls every day, some of whom have walked 40 miles to reach him,” wrote Dawson. "Many patients need several surgeries and years to recover – if they ever do… Please join me and take action. Let’s reclaim the mantra “women and children first,” and protect Africa’s truest and greatest resource. Help these women and girls heal their wounds. Together, we can stop this violence and make change happen."

A host of celebrities will attend tonight’s (April 24) “An Evening Of Women: Celebrating Art, Music and Equality” at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Presented by the LA Gay and Lesbian Center, the annual event is widely regarded as one of the premier events for women in California and the nation. Christina Milian To Headline Charity Event
