The outrageous beauty pageant spoof, “Best In Drag Show” – a benefit for Aid For AIDS in California – returns to The Orpheum Theatre on October 9, 2011.

The highly anticipated, annual fundraiser will be opened by comedienne Kathy Griffin and has a hilarious cast of drag contestants who compete in traditional beauty and talent categories. The legendary show always has a roster of celebrity judges – this year including Wayne Brady, Melanie Gritffith, Harry Hamlin, Vanessa Williams, Rita Wilson, Kim Coles, Dot Marie Jones, Sara Ramirez and Lisa Rinna – and the benefit has raised millions of dollars for Aid For AIDS, which was founded in 1983. Each year the show raises more than $250,000 in one night.

The fundraiser is produced by a large group of extremely dedicated and talented volunteers with a small staff from Alliance for Housing and Healing – the non-profit parent corporation of Aid For AIDS, executive producer of the show. This year, Aid For AIDS will be hosting a special VIP Reception for top-level sponsors. A celebrity red carpet and colorful pre-show cocktail party with costumed contestant “fans” begin at 6 PM. Curtain is 7 PM.

Stars To Celebrate World Peace Day At Bullets4Peace Event

A number of celebrities will come together on Wednesday for a very special World Peace Day celebration in Hollywood with Bullets4Peace.

The third annual Reloading Life event will feature a very special live performance by peace activist and international vocal sensation Liel Kolet, with a guest list that includes host Chris Noth, Bullets 4 Peace founder Rafi Anteby, LOVA Tea co-founders Stephanie Cence and Tara Wilson, Akon, America Ferrera, Bill Maher, Bobby Brown, Boris Kodjoe, Brandon T. Jackson, Brandy, Brian McKnight, Cedric the Entertainer, Chris Pine, Cynthia Nixon, Dennis Haysbert, Donald Faison, Eric Dane, Esai Morales, Eva Marcille, Forest Whitaker, George Lopez, Hill Harper, Idris Elba, Jill Hennessy, John Corbett, John Slattery, Jordin Sparks, Julie Benz, Kathy Griffin, Kiefer Sutherland, Keke Palmer, Kristin Davis, Kyle Maclachlan, Lance Gross, Lenny Kravitz, Paul Johansson, Regina King, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sean Penn, Shannon Elizabeth, Taraji P. Henson, Tatyana Ali, Travis Barker, Vivica Fox, Zoe Kravitz, Wayne Brady and many others.

Bullets4Peace is a jewelry line made of recycled bullet casings taken from reload centers, streets, and war zones. When a bullet is fired the tip flies towards the target and the casing falls to the ground. Manufacturers reload these casings with live ammunition. Bullets4Peace intercepts this vicious cycle by transforming the casings into unique and stylish pendants insuring that these bullets will never find their way back to war zones, thus promoting harmony and peace. Bullets4Peace transforms war bullets into beautiful and unique jewelry as a way of spreading consciousness of peace.

Cher Attends Kat Kramer's Films That Change The World‏

As reported earlier this week on LookToTheStars.org, the third installment of Kat Kramer’s Films That Change the World featured the world premiere of the documentary “Elephants and Man: A Litany of Tragedy” at Sunset Gower Studios in Hollywood on Thursday, January 20.

The film, executive produced by Melya Kaplan and directed by Jacek Kropinski, chronicles the history of elephants in captivity. Kaplan, founder of the nonprofit Voice for the Animals Foundation, contends that zoos and circuses are not capable of properly caring for elephants due to their size and their need for vast amounts of space in which to roam. Many celebrities have joined Kaplan in a campaign to persuade zoos to close elephant exhibits and transfer the pachyderms to larger sanctuaries.

Darren Criss Busy With Charity Shows

Glee star Darren Criss spread a little Christmas cheer last month by helping charity at his Los Angeles concerts.

The actor performed sold-out shows at The Roxy in West Hollywood just prior to Christmas, in front of an audience that included stars such as Matthew Morrison. Audience members were encouraged to fill 15 large sacks with toys on behalf of Toys for Tots to be distributed to kids who would otherwise miss out on gifts.

The singer will also donate a portion of ticket sales to the charity.

Stars Shine For Charity At Do Something Awards

On July 19, the Hollywood Palladium was filled with more stars in one place than a usual Monday evening should for the 2010 Do Something Awards hosted by VH1 on the blue – not red, but blue – carpet.

Before the event kicked off, Melanie Stevenson from DoSomething.org streamed live and greeted celebrities, creating a Twitter craze. Tweets tagged as #DSawards were displayed across the stage on the electronic banner and questions for host Jane Lynch to answer were welcomed.

Host Jane Lynch, aka Sue Sylvester, delivered as many witty one-liners as her Glee character loves to partake in. The hilarious opening, which can be viewed on VH1 here, shows Lynch with her long list of good things to do, ending with a bang as Sue Sylvester look-alikes flooded the Palladium. Lynch then showed pictures of her very noble “acts” of public service with Mother Teresa, Lindsay Lohan, the 1929 Great Depression, and the Berlin Wall.

Stars Speak Out Over Prop 8 Decision

The celebrity world has shown its disappointment at yesterday’s Prop 8 decision, in which the Californian Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriages should remain outlawed.

“This just should invigorate people to get it back on the ballot in 2010 and 2012 and every two years until all people are allowed a basic civil right,” George Clooney told E Online.

“This really makes me sad,” said Kim Kardashian, who also expressed disbelief at the decision. "I thought we were more forward thinking than this, and I’m disappointed in the Supreme Court for being so close-minded.
