To celebrate its 10th Anniversary as the Official Charity of the Nike U.S. Open of Surfing, Life Rolls On Foundation is hosting an exclusive charity auction on CharityBuzz.com.

Bidding is currently open for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to surf alongside the pros at the world’s biggest surfing contest. The winner of this unique experience will be able to show off their surfing skills in Life Rolls On’s They Will Surf Again Expression Session during the 2011 Nike U.S. Open of Surfing.

The They Will Surf Again Expression Session is an opportunity for surfers to showcase their most creative moves while highlighting a special exhibition of Life Rolls On’s adaptive surfing program, They Will Surf Again, which empowers paraplegics and quadriplegics with the opportunity to surf. Hayden Panettiere Helps Launch Surfrider Charity Collection

Actress Hayden Panettiere and pro-surfer/activist Rob Machado co-hosted the launch of the exclusive ‘Surfrider Collection’ for Bloomingdale’s in Santa Monica April 13 to benefit the Surfrider Foundation.

For a limited time only, the men’s department at 13 Bloomingdale’s stores nationwide will host to temporary pop-up shops-within-a-shop. Each shop will feature surf-inspired, beach loving apparel and accessories from designers exclusive to Bloomingdale’s in support of the Surfrider Foundation. The collection features designs by Polo Ralph Lauren RLX, Engineered Garments, Paul Smith, Gitman Bros., Altru, Sea Bags, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Industry of All Nations and more.  

Annie Duke To Host Charity Poker For Life Rolls On

Poker legend Annie Duke and Life Rolls On founder, Jesse Billauer, are set to host the 1st Annual “A Night of Poker” on May 7 in Gardena California to benefit Billauer’s Life Rolls On Foundation.

Life Rolls On, a subsidiary of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, was founded in 1996 by Jesse Billauer. On the verge of becoming a professional surfer, Billauer suffered a spinal cord injury while surfing and was rendered a quadriplegic, Jesse’s spirit was not broken, and the phrase “Life Rolls On” was born.

Today, LRO remains dedicated to improving the quality of life for young people affected by spinal cord injury and utilizes action sports as a platform to inspire infinite possibilities despite paralysis.

Project Save Our Surf's First Annual Surfathon and Celebrity Gala

On Sunday April 5, professional surfers and celebrities will take part in the Project ‘Save Our Surf’ Surf-a-Thon and Celebrity Gala to benefit Non-Profit Oceana, an international ocean conservation group.

Launched by actress Tanna Frederick and surfer Shaun Tomson, Project Save Our Surf (Project SOS) is an amazing organization that rally’s surfers and non-surfers to get involved in giving back while helping to save our oceans.

Celebrities such as Michelle Rodriguez (“Lost”), David Chokachi (“Baywatch”), Rob Machado, and World Champion of International Professional Surfing Peter “P.T.” Townend, will raise money by asking fans to sponsor their commitment to surf during a five-hour shift. The Surfathon will take place from 10:00am to 3:00pm at Ocean Park beach in Santa Monica. In addition to watching the celebrities hang-ten, other activities at the event include Tae Kwon Do demonstrations, environmental guest speakers, face painting, team relay races, yoga sessions, free massages, raffle prizes and musical performance by Birdsong and the Eco-Wonders.

Athletes and Actors Tee Up For Charity

On Wednesday, the Chill Foundation hosted its annual charity golf tournament to aid disadvantaged youths ages 10 to 18. Professional snowboarders, surfers and celebrities teed off to an afternoon of golf and evening of dinner while raising funds for the Foundation’s program which provides snowboarding opportunities to at-risk inner city youth.

Participants in the event included athletes Rob Machado, Keir Dillon, Jussi Oksanen, Dave Downing, Timmy Curran, Benji Weatherley and actors Josh Henderson and Lou Giovannetti.

Chill was founded by Jake Burton and the Burton snowboard company in 1995 to bring snowboarding to kids who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity. Since its inception, Chill has touched the lives of over 12,000 underprivileged kids.
