Brian May Joins Mel C On Stage For Charity

Earlier this week, former Spice Girl Melanie C took to the stage joining cast members from the award-winning West End musical We Will Rock You to perform a unique curtain call charity collaboration – and was joined by a very special guest.

Introduced by writer and director of the show, comic genius Ben Elton, the performance was part of BBC Children in Need Pop Goes The Musical, a series of West End performances by pop stars to help raise money for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.

But as a further electrifying surprise for the audience, rock legend, founding member of Queen and music supervisor of the show Brian May took to the stage. He joined Melanie C in a fantastic and highly energised rendition of ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘We Are The Champions’.

Joanna Lumley Joins Celebrity Friends To Save Tigers

British actress Joanna Lumley has added her support to TigerTime, the new global charity campaign to save the last 3,200 wild tigers on earth.

Joanna joins an amazing list of celebrities from all across the world of entertainment in both the UK and USA including Ricky Gervais, Roger Moore, Michael Parkinson, Melanie C, Anjelica Huston, Susan Sarandon, Gemma Atkinson, Vicki Roberts, Simon King, Naomie Harris, Neil Gaiman, Claire King, Abi Titmuss, Elizabeth Emanuel and Paula Abdul.

“Animals share the earth with us: that is to say, they are equal partners in the right to live on this planet,” says Joanna. “In our anxiety to make the world a better place for ourselves, let us be very careful that we don’t obliterate the needs of other species. If the tiger disappears from the wild because of our behaviour we humans shall have lost all claims to be called civilised and compassionate. The greatest enemy is indifference. Please join TigerTime right now to help to save the lives and habitat of these magnificent creatures. This is extremely urgent. The clock is ticking: real time is running out.”

Annie Lennox To Join Mel C For Charity Concert

Annie Lennox and former Spice Girl Melanie C will perform a special concert for charity in the UK on October 20.

In memory of the late Dame Anita Roddick, Body & Soul presents Voicestorm 2010, celebrating strong inspirational women through an exceptional line of female artists. Established in 1996, Body & Soul is a pioneering charity providing support to children, young people and families living with or closely affected by HIV.

Anita Roddick was a unique and amazing woman, she was an optimist in a society that is often harsh, she was an activist up to the day she died; she never lost hope or stamina because she knew that there was joy and possibility in creating new, imaginative ways to make things better. She knew that doing any small thing to improve a life, to right a wrong, brings joy to those who do, as well as to those who benefit. Anita helped Body & Soul grow up and nurtured their ambitions.

It’s easy to get involved – simply visit the Pampers Village website and anyone, including parents of the future, can send a ‘virtual kiss’ with the click of a mouse. For every virtual kiss sent, Pampers will make an additional donation to UNICEF.

“I love the idea behind this campaign,” says Mel C. "Over the last five years mums and dads in the UK have done an amazing job raising funds for these life-saving tetanus vaccines. Now through the ‘Pampers Big Kiss’ campaign, everyone can be part of the global movement to help eliminate maternal and newborn tetanus. It’s so simple – with a click of a mouse you can send a virtual kiss that can help to save someone’s life.

Eva Longoria To Launch TwitChange Celebrity Charity Auction

Eva Longoria has taken to Twitter to encourage her celebrity friends to support charity.

The Desperate Housewives superstar has enlisted the help of the stars to launch TwitChange, a massive online auction that will hit the Net on September 15. The idea is simple: TwitChange is the only global celebrity auction where Twitter users can bid to get three things: be followed by their favorite celebrity on Twitter, retweeted, or mentioned by them in a special tweet!

All proceeds from the TwitChange celebrity auction will provide AHomeInHaiti.org the means to finish rebuilding the Miriam Center. The Miriam Center houses, educates and loves on Haitian children with cerebral palsy, severe autism, and other major life challenges and is one of the only facilities of its kind in Haiti. The current facility houses children in the earthquakeʼs aftermath and is extremely overcrowded. These kids need and deserve a permanent home.

Celebrities Redesign Children's TV Character

Yesterday, Look To TheStars brought you news about a new auction featuring James Bond star Daniel Craig’s watch to raise cash for the Children in Need charity. Well, here’s something similar for our younger readers: a whole bunch of stars have given one of the characters of an award-winning children’s TV show a makeover, and they want you to bid for them.

The Spice Girls’ Melanie C, Britain’s Got Talent winner George Sampson and former Home And Away actress Isla Fisher are among the celebrities who have come up with new designs for Igglepiggle, a central character from In The Night Garden.

The framed and signed designs are up for sale right now over on eBay, and all proceeds will go to the BBC’s Children in Need campaign to help support disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. But hurry, the auction ends on November 12.

Mel C Adopts Her Own Word... And So Can You

You can own just about anything these days – stars, planets, galaxies… and now your very own word in the English language.

Children’s charity I CAN is offering people the chance to adopt their favorite word for a whole year in the name of charity. For just £20 (US$32) adopters can do whatever they want to do with their chosen word… take it shopping, maybe. Or to the gym. Or just give it a loving home. They will also receive a gift pack including a certificate and an aftercare advice booklet.

Some of Britain’s favorite stars have already adopted their own favorite words through the initiative – Melanie C has chosen “red” and Kim Wilde has gone for “flower”.

These Boots Were Made For Charity

The native people of North America have a saying: “Before you judge someone, first walk a mile in their moccasins.” Well, now you can, because a group of celebrities are donating their footwear to a special auction to raise money for charity.

The Roy Castle Lung Foundation is launching the auction as part of their De-Feet campaign, which hopes to defeat lung cancer through research and education. And they have already gathered shoes from Harry Potters’ Daniel Radcliffe, James Bond’s Dame Judi Dench, Formula 1’s Lewis Hamilton, the Spice Girls’ Melanie C, and Take That’s Gary Barlow for the sale.

“I lost my husband, Michael, to lung cancer in 2001, which is why I believe so passionately that this is the way forward,” said Judi Dench. “I am one of the thousands of people affected by this injustice. Please join me in this fight against lung cancer. Together we can make a profound difference.”
