Mariah Carey Joins Jenny Craig's Campaign For American Heart Month

Jenny Craig, one of the world’s leading authorities on weight management, has announced its support of the American Heart Association’s My Heart. My Life. healthy living initiative by launching a multi-faceted program entitled My Heart. My Life. My Jenny with global superstar Mariah Carey, best-selling female artist of all time, in the month of February during American Heart Month.

Most people don’t realize that weight impacts their heart health and maintaining a healthy weight can positively impact risk factors including, blood pressure and cholesterol management, blood sugar levels, and BMI. This holiday season, Pencils of Promise (PoP), a nonprofit whose mission is to build schools in the developing world, is launching their Made with Pencils campaign. The Made with Pencils campaign allows the world’s leading cultural curators and artistic minds to produce original works made from pencils that will be auctioned off to build new schools.

Beginning November 30, these one-of-a-kind creations will be auctioned on the Pencils of Promise website, so supporters can not only purchase an expression of iconic inspiration, but also play an active role in producing schools in the developing world. All funds raised go directly to building schools and educating children around the world.

Participants include leaders across all industries. In the entertainment sector Mariah Carey, Coldplay, Hugh Jackman, Lil’ John, Russell Simmons, Olivia Wilde, Lea Michele and Sophia Bush have all created original works. Under The Mistletoe comes out on November 1, and will benefit two of Justin’s favorite charities, Pencils of Promise and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“Universal [Music] never actually allowed money from the album to go to charity, so it’s kind of a unique thing and I’m very happy and proud of what we’ve done,” he said.

Usher Donates Gadhafi Money To Charity

Usher is the latest star to confirm that money raised from performances for Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi has been donated to charity.

Following last week’s announcements that Nelly Furtado and Beyoncé have donated earnings from shows to charity, Usher said: “I am sincerely troubled to learn about the circumstances surrounding the Nikki Beach St. Bart’s event that took place on New Year’s Eve 2009. I will be donating all of my personal proceeds from that event to various human rights organizations.”

Usher followed his statement by donating to Amnesty International on Friday.

Mariah Carey spread some Christmas cheer over the holiday break when she hosted a special party for 35 underprivileged children in Colorado.

The singer held the event – which featured a plethora of Christmas magic such as jugglers, magicians, storytellers and more – in the Aspen Recreation Center. Carey and husband Nick Cannon even organized for Santa to put in an appearance – and he didn’t mind posing for pictures with the famous couple.

“This is an opportunity [the children] haven’t had before,” said Judé Liguori-Oliver, child protection services administrator for the city and county of Denver, told the Aspen Times. "Many of these kids haven’t been out of Denver. A lot of them haven’t been in the mountains.

An Army marches on its stomach they say, so it’s entirely appropriate that on the 2nd October, London’s top chefs will be cooking up a five-course feast to raise money for troops wounded in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The Chefs for Heroes gala dinner is being spearheaded by The Lanesborough’s chef de cuisine, Paul Gayler, and dished up by an ‘army’ of chefs from the City of London’s top restaurants including Andrew Bennett (Sheraton Park Lane), Gary Klaner (Landmark Hotel), Martyn Nail (Claridges), Paul Bates (Intercontinental, Hyde Park Corner), Simon Young (The Jumeirah Carlton Tower, Knightsbridge) and Matthew Marshall (Chamberlains Events).

They will be joined on the night by many of TV’s favourite chefs who will host a limited number of tables. Imagine exchanging recipes and pleasantries over dinner with Gordon Ramsay, Raymond Blanc or Heston Blumenthal – all of whom are on the guest list! VH1 Divas To Return For Charity

After a four-year hiatus, VH1 will bring back the legendary live concert event “VH1 Divas” by featuring some of pop music’s most talented female artists – Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis and Miley Cyrus. The “VH1 Divas” concert will be televised live on VH1 on Thursday, September 17 at 9:00pm.

Proceeds from the show will go to VH1’s Save The Music Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of education in America’s public schools by restoring music programs in cities across the country, and raising public awareness about the importance of music participation for our nation’s youth. Since VH1 Save The Music was created in 1997, more than $43 million worth of musical instruments have been donated to 1,600 public schools in 100 cities, improving the lives of more than 1.2 million children.

Pop diva Mariah Carey is auctioning one of her dresses on eBay to raise money for research into breast cancer.

One of only three in existence, the pink gown was created by Julian Contreras – a 20-year-old from California – as part of a competition where the singer asked fans to design a dress inspired by her Delicious Pink fragrance.

Proceeds from the auction will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, an organization dedicated to curing breast cancer at every stage – from the causes to the cures, to the pain and anxiety of every moment in between.
