As October is National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month, STOMP Out Bullying – the signature program of Love Our Children USA – announces its annual bullying prevention activities to raise awareness to end the epidemic of bullying.

On October 3rd, the country and many across the globe joined STOMP Out Bullying in it Third Annual BLUE SHIRT DAY – WORLD DAY OF BULLYING PREVENTION where students, schools, and others wore blue shirts in solidarity to STOMP Out Bullying. The day was most successful as hundred of thousands went blue across the globe.

Teen celebrities Bella Thorne, Willow Shields, Joey King, Mark Indelicato, Cassie Steele, Olesya Rulin, Alexz Johnson, Taylor Spreitler, Y I Yell!, Payton Rae and Savannah Outen tweeted about the day and are involved in a month-long social media campaign to promote the organizations prevention activities with its sponsor Customink.

Heavy Metal Legends Form Supergroup For Charity

Some of Heavy Metal’s greatest headbangers have joined together to form a massive supergroup for charity.

Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi and Deep Purple’s Ian Gillan will front WhoCares, a charity band that also features Whitesnake keyboardist Jon Lord and Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain. Metallica bassist Jason Newsted has also joined the band for two charity songs due out shortly.

According to Gillan.com, the band “has recorded two brand new songs with the intent to support the rebuilding of a music school in Gyumri, Armenia. Both Gillan and Iommi have spent a lot of time in Armenia, fallen in love with the country and the people and have dedicated a lot of work to a nation still shocked after the earthquake that struck Armenia on December 7, 1988 at 11:41am.”

The Silverlake Conservatory of Music is now seeking participants to join Flea and his team, the Conservatory Runners, for the Honda LA Marathon.

Team members will meet Flea, get a Conservatory T-shirt, and get to enjoy the Conservatory Inspiration spot at mile 7.5, where there will be live music and runner support.

The minimum commitment to enter is $1000, and the first 25 people to raise that amount will get tickets to an upcoming Conservatory Musical event.

Robin Williams Show To Benefit Earthquake Victims In New Zealand

Robin Williams is in New Zealand this week, and will donate 100% of the proceeds from his Christchurch shows to victims of September’s devastating earthquake in the city.

“It is devastating what has happened in Christchurch but from what I have learnt, the people there are incredibly resilient,” said Williams. "The first quake of 7.1 would have been traumatic enough but I understand that since then, the people of Christchurch have experienced close to 3,000 after-shocks.

“That is an unimaginable trauma to have to endure. I hope this donation will go some way to helping the extensive rebuilding effort in the city.”

Metallica's Call Of Duty For Veterans

Metallica rock a group of fans in Santa Monica last night in an effort to raise $1 million for troops returning from service.

The rockers played at the launch of Activision’s Call Of Duty: Black Ops game in Hanger 8 to raise money for the Call Of Duty Endowment, a charity dedicated to ensuring that veterans are provided a clear path to new careers after their military service is complete.

“We are honored to have Metallica partner with us to pay tribute to the brave servicemen and women who have risked their lives at war only to return home to find their biggest challenge is searching for a job,” stated Robert Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard. “Today, the unemployment rate for veterans is 21 percent higher than the rate for all Americans, with veterans’ unemployment topping 500,000. We believe that the business community can and should do more.”

As reported by LookToTheStars.org last week, Andre Agassi hosted his star-studded Grand Slam For Children on October 9. The event saw a host of famous faces hit the stage, and raised a massive $8.5 million for the Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation’s educational work.

Among those to perform were Elton John, Jason Mraz, Jennifer Hudson, Rob Thomas, David Foster and Bill Cosby, and an auction feature items donated by Katie Couric, Michael Phelps, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, Robin Williams, Wayne Gretzky and many more.

The live auction saw a personal dinner with Robin Williams go under the hammer for 6 people at $100,000 each. Lars Ulrich’s drum lessons went for $35,000, and a trip with Freida Pinto to India went for $75,000.

The annual event supports the Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation’s efforts to transform education and benefits the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy (Agassi Prep), a K-12 public charter school in Las Vegas that strives to provide children with a first-class education. Dave Dobbyn To Headline New Zealand Earthquake Charity Concert

New Zealand music legend Dave Dobbyn is set to headline a massive charity concert to help victims of the devastating earthquake that hit the country on September 4.

Band Together will be held at Hagley Park in Christchurch – the South Island city where the quake struck – on October 23, and will feature some big names on the Kiwi music scene, including Anika Moa, Bic Runga, Opshop and the Exponents.

“It’s not easy to organize,” said promoter Paul Ellis. “It’s a huge effort to organize a gig like this but it’s a no-brainer. We really want to do it for Canterbury, for the residents of Canterbury, and it was very easy to galvanize the musicians behind it.”

Trudie Styler Explores Ecuador In Crude Film

Trudie Styler has teamed up with moviemaker Joe Berlinger to make a documentary film about a community of 30,00 tribal members in the Amazonian jungle of Ecuador who hold a corporation responsible for its crimes against their land, their livelihood, and their lives.

Crude follows a trip to Ecuador that Styler – wife of Sting – and Berlinger – director of Metallica’s Some Kind of Monster – took to chronicle the effects that Chevron’s oil production facilities are having on locals. The company has spent the last 30 years contaminating the air, land, and water of the area, and cancer, leukemia, and birth defects have become a major problem.

“I saw the most appalling human rights violations I’ve ever witnessed,” said Styler. “I’ve seen some pretty grim sights, but nothing could prepare me for the sight of indigenous people with no access to clean water who have been systematically poisoned.”

Metallica rockers Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield are planning a massive rock concert to raise funds for a planned museum exhibit after officials pulled their support.

The Marin Rocks exhibition was to celebrate Marin, California’s, unique musical heritage. But the exhibition was cancelled after a suitable venue could not be agreed upon.

Speaking in a video screened at the Marin History Museum’s gala on Saturday night at the Osher Marin Jewish Community Center, Hetfield announced his plans to stage a concert in September to raise funds so that the exhibition could go ahead.

Heavy metal legends Metallica will kick off their latest tour with two charity shows.

The Rock Gods will play a gig at O2 World in Berlin on September 12, to be followed by a concert at the O2 Arena in London three days later, with proceeds going to local charities which will be revealed in the next few weeks. Tickets are only available to the band’s fan club members and subscribers to www.MissionMetallica.com – the band’s website dedicated to their new album, Death Magnetic. The ticket price will be as low as £5 (US$10).

The band – who have performed at a variety of benefit concerts in the past, including Live Earth, the Bridge School concerts, and the Silverlake Conservancy – are no strangers to giving their concert proceeds to charity. Following their performance at Live Earth, the band’s drummer Lars Ulrich announced that fans could download the performance, with all money raised benefiting climate charities hand-selected by the band – including the Sierra Club, Apollo Alliance, WWF, and the Rainforest Action Network.

Wednesday, May 14, will see Metallica perform at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles to benefit the Silverlake Conservatory of Music. Joining the iconic heavy-metal band at the fundraising concert will be Scars On Broadway, fronted by Daron Malakian and drummer John Dolmayan from the band System of a Down.

100% of all ticket sales will go directly to the support of the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, but you gotta act fast if you want to be part of the celebration, only 2,200 guests will be admitted.

The Silverlake Conservatory of Music (SCM), was founded in 2001 by Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, and Keith Barry, who feel that “that the study of music enriches not only the life of the musician, but the community and society as well.” It serves to foster music education among low-income students. The school’s summer camp program and new building initiative will also benefit from the proceeds of the concert.

Neil Young Organizes Benefit Concert

Musician Neil Young is to host his annual Bridge School Benefit Concerts near San Francisco on October 27-28, with an eclectic lineup of acts already confirmed to play.

The two acoustic concerts, to be held at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, will feature performers such as John Mayer, Metallica, and Pearl Jam singer, Eddie Vedder. Tom Waits will also perform with the classical string ensemble, The Kronos Quartet. Waits and the Quartet first performed together earlier in 2007, as part of a concert to benefit Richard Gere’s Healing the Divide Foundation.

Proceeds from the October shows will benefit Bridge School, a non-profit educational institution in Northern California for children with physical disabilities and severe speech impediments. It was co-founded by Young’s wife, Pegi, in 1986, after three of the couple’s children were born with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. Young organized the first Bridge School Concert in 1986, and with the exception of 1987, has hosted the event every year since.

Live Earth Rocks the Planet

They came, they rocked, they conquered. 07/07/07 saw the Live Earth concerts take place on 7 continents, and the event will go down in history and in people’s hearts as one of the greatest spectacles ever staged.

The nine concerts held around the globe attracted hundreds of thousands of music lovers, and another 9 million internet streams – a world record internet audience. Many more are expected to watch replays over the next few weeks.
Concert-goers partied for a total of 22 hours at the events organized by Al Gore to raise awareness of climate change and environmental issues.
