On January 14th, the night before the Golden Globes, The Art of Elysium will celebrate its fifth annual HEAVEN Gala, honoring Lord Of The Rings star Elijah Wood.

This fall The Art of Elysium celebrated 14 years of providing creative arts programming for hospitalized youth in Los Angeles and New York. This year’s Visionary and creative force behind HEAVEN is Cameron Silver, founder and co-owner of Decades. The organization is thrilled to unveil his idea of heaven on earth, or “elysium”, on January 14th. The charity will also recognize Elijah Wood as their 2012 Spirit of Elysium Recipient for his years of volunteerism and tireless fundraising efforts on their behalf.

Spiderman 3 co-stars James Franco and Kirsten Dunst were in attendance for The Art of Elysium’s 4th Annual Black Tie “Heaven” Charity Gala on Saturday (January 15) at the California Science Center in Los Angeles, where Franco brought awareness to a whole new level.

After receiving the Spirit of Elysium award for his role in the nonprofit charity that encourages young actors to involve themselves with children who are facing life-threatening illnesses, Franco shared insight into his personal growth and explained the pivotal role Dunst played in it:

“I was in a movie called Spiderman 3 and working with Kirsten Dunst and she said, ‘you know I volunteer with this group called Art of Elysium’ and she said come help out,” said Franco during his acceptance speech. “It was funny because I was seeing a therapist at the time, I saw him for like a month, and I told him I just wanted to find a place where I could give back. I didn’t know what I could give. All I did was act and I didn’t want to teach that. And so then Kirsten said that there was this organization that worked with artists to make good of doing with they do and it was a place where they can help someone.”

The Screen Actors Guild Awards online auction to benefit the SAG Foundation is offering Red Carpet Fan Bleacher Seats at www.sagawards.org/auction now through Jan. 10.

This second auction in this year’s SAG Awards three-part auction series features 90 seats from which fans can see their favorite stars walk the SAG Awards red carpet, take pictures and request autographs. Up for bid during the Red Carpet Bleacher Auction are 15 sets of two seats and 15 sets of four seats.

SAG Foundation Launches Online Celebrity Charity Auction

The Screen Actors Guild Awards kicks off the first of its three online auctions to benefit the SAG Foundation at www.sagawards.org/auction with a Holiday Auction on Friday, Dec. 10, 2010.

Stand Up To Cancer announced its list of celebrity ambassadors for 2009 last week.

Fall Out Boy’s Peter Wentz played a special gig in Washington DC on Saturday, April 25, to raise money and awareness of Invisible Children, and blogged in the Huffington Post about why the cause is so close to his heart.

“Invisible Children is staging an event called the RESCUE, in 100 cities across 10 countries worldwide. Thousands of people are going to symbolically ‘abduct’ themselves and stand in solidarity with all the abducted children forced to fight as soldiers,” he wrote before the gig. "In turn, every group will be ‘rescued’ by a celebrity, politician, local luminary — someone who will make noise and bring the media out. I will be there, in Washington, D.C. standing in solidarity with thousands of other people so that these kids in Uganda will be noticed. And if no cultural leader shows up in one particular city, then everyone in the surrounding cites that were rescued, will take a bus to join them. This will continue until every participating city is rescued. Now, this could take days, or even weeks, but it’s going to happen.

Good Charlotte singer Joel Madden has joined a video campaign organized by the Invisible Children organization to raise awareness of The Rescue, a global rally that takes place on 25 April.

The campaign allows people to upload videos to YouTube and call on their role models to take part in the rally, which aims at drawing attention to the issue of kidnapped child fighters in Uganda and the Congo.

“Of all the people that I could think of, I thought Emile Hirsch,” said Madden in his video. “He actually really cares about Africa. He means it.”

The 26-year-old actress cast an early vote in California on Monday and filmed the event for WhyTuesday.org, an organization founded in 2005 to find solutions to increase voter turnout and participation in elections.

A charity party organised by Sir Elton John has raised $12.2 million for the Elton John AIDS Foundation, and was a night to remember for all those involved.

Kate Winslet, Dame Judi Dench, and Elle Macpherson were among the 500 guests who dusted off their best clothes for the 9th annual White Tie and Tiara charity ball and auction, held on June 28 at Sir Elton’s home in Berkshire.

The theme of the night was “Las Vegas”, and the evening sparkled and shone as the celebrity party-goers wore their most stylish dresses and suits for the $6000/ticket event. Sir Elton’s house, “Woodside”, was lavishly decorated with a pink stretch cadillac, giant props from his “Red Piano” shows at Caesar’s Palace, and seven Elvis impersonators serenaded the crowd as they enjoyed a feast of “Las Vegas proportions”: truffle soufflé, followed by filet mignon with Maine lobster tail, and a giant knickerbocker glory for desert.
