A gilded guitar, once owned by Prince, raised $100,000 in a charity auction recently.

The piece of music history was purchased by race car driver Lewis Hamilton. The proceeds will help fund art, education, and environmental projects for New York City’s Harlem Children’s Zone.

Prince has rocked a charity organization in Columbia, South Carolina, with a $250,000 donation.

John Blackwell Jr. – drummer in Prince’s band and Columbia native – presented the money to Eau Claire Promise Zone on Tuesday.

The Eau Claire Promise Zone is a citywide grassroots coalition of community partners committed to doing “whatever it takes” to ensure all of the city’s children are prepared to graduate from college and be successful in their career and in life.

The Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) announced today that the 19th annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party hosted by Sir Elton John and David Furnish will take place on Sunday, February 27, at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles.

Sir Elton stated, “I am tremendously excited to announce that Best New Artist Grammy nominee Florence + The Machine has accepted my personal invitation to perform for guests attending this year’s gala event.”

Prince To Perform For George Michael's Charity

Music legend Prince will perform a special celebrity charity concert this weekend to celebrate Super Bowl.

Titled theEvent, the concert on Friday, February 4, is an all-inclusive evening of music and culture with an intimate performance with legendary songwriter, musician, producer, actor and performer Prince, benefiting The Goss-Michael Foundation.

Along with the rare performance by Prince, entertainment will include music from Special Guest Erykah Badu, The Goss-Michael Foundation scholarship winners, guest DJ’s, and a silent auction.

Elton's Oscar Party Raises $5.1m

Sunday night saw the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s 16th annual Academy Awards viewing party, which this year raised $5.1 million thanks to its spectacular guest list.

The Pacific Design Center venue saw even more of Hollywood’s glitterati than anticipated, boasting the attendance of “Best Actress” award winner Marion Cotillard and “Best Supporting Actor” nominee Tom Wilkinson. Further top names present included Amy Adams, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi, Sean Penn, Patricia Clarkson, Calista Flockhart and Harrison Ford, Josh Groban, Faye Dunaway, Sean Combs, Seal and Heidi Klum, Prince, Kate Beckinsale, Billy Joel, Courtney Love, Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Petra Nemcova, Jeremy Piven, Roberto Cavalli, Minnie Driver, Simon Cowell and Herbie Hancock.

The gala was co-hosted by Elton’s partner David Furnish, and included dinner, a musical performance by Elton himself and a live auction.

The countdown to Christmas has begun, and celebrities are doing their best to make holiday shopping easy this year. Several charity auctions have already kicked off to raise money for good causes, including one that may be eBay’s largest sale of celebrity items… ever!

The BID 2 BEAT AIDS online auction will open on December 1, World AIDS Day, and will feature over 1000 specially signed items, ranging from posters to iPods. The annual auction will raise money for LIFEbeat, the music industry’s AIDS fundraising and service charity, and in the past has raised up to $175,000.

The array of memorabilia up for sale this year is simply colossal, with perhaps the most interesting items being a series of “Lend a Hand to LIFEbeat” cards that feature the handprints of over 100 celebrities. Stars such as Britney Spears, Jack Black, and Kathy Griffin traced around the outlines of their hands and decorated their artworks for the auction, and the finished products will make a unique addition to any Christmas stocking.

Prince Fragrance Raises Funds For Charity

On 07/07/07, Prince and Revelations Perfume and Cosmetics are to launch the 3121 fragrance with a surprise in-store concert and 24-hours of charity fundraising.

The philanthropic event begins at 12 am EST, at which point the 30 ml bottles of 3121 will be available for purchase at www.3121perfume.com. The 3121 collection will also be debuting at select Macy’s stores.

The fragrance will retail for $31.21, with 7% of each sale being divided between 7 charities chosen by Prince and Revelations.
