Stars To Raise Awareness Of Child Safety At Red CARpet Event

Ali Landry, Tori Spelling, Alison Sweeney and Constance Marie are some of the big names expected to attend this weekend’s Red CARpet celebrity charity event to raise awareness of child safety in cars.

September 10th’s Red CARpet Event is the first of its kind and will utilize celebrity parents to help increase awareness for the importance of this issue, and encourage people everywhere to educate themselves about child passenger safety by visiting SafeKids.org.

“Every year, thousands of children are tragically injured or killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes,” Ali Landry told CelebrityBabyScoop.com. "In fact, motor vehicle crashes in the U.S. are the leading cause of death for children age 3 and older. As a mom, that’s a really disturbing figure. So I thought I could help by getting the word out that securing children properly is the most effective thing that can be done to protect them in the event of a crash.

Tori Spelling Wraps It Up For Charity

Tori Spelling joined celebrity friends such as Dean McDermott, Lost’s Malcom David Kelly and Sterling Beaimon, and All My Children’s Kevin Farley and JR Martinez in Los Angeles last week to wrap donated toys for Christmas.

Wrap It Up was held to benefit Second Family, a very special charity – unique in every way. From their website : "At 2Family.org you will find youth challenged by extraordinary circumstances such as homelessness, violence, addictions, disorders, and unstable living situations. Many have been through much worse. These youth, nominated by youth organizations across the USA, need extra motivation to break a cycle of struggle, to dream bigger & to reach their full potential. 2Family.org has made it easy for anyone, anywhere, anytime to improve these children’s lives by removing the distance that alienates struggling children from the world’’s generosity. Technology has revolutionized the world; new things are possible every day, and simplifying “giving back” has joined the revolution!"

The event was held on December 16 at the NINETHIRTY Restaurant at the W-Westwood. To find out more about the charity, click here.

Going under the hammer are titles such as The Olsen Twins’ Influence, Michael J. Fox’s Always Looking Up, Heidi Klum’s Body of Knowledge, Julianne Moore’s Freckleface Strawberry and the Dodgeball Bully, Tom Colicchio’s Craft of Cooking, William Shatner’s Quest For Tomorrow, Alison Sweeney’s All The Days Of My Life, Kirk Douglas’ Let’s Face It, Jenny McCarthy’s Healing and Preventing Autism, Larry King’s My Remarkable Journey, Tori Spelling’s Mommywood, Sean Astin’s There and Back Again, John Lithgow’s The Poet’s Corner and many more.

Mandy Moore To Attend Friendly House Awards

Mandy Moore is just one of the celebrities expected to attend Friendly House’s 19th Annual Awards Luncheon this Saturday, October 18.

Hosted by 8 Simple Rules’ Katey Sagal, the event will honor Candy Spelling – mother of Tori Spelling – as Woman of the Year. Spelling is a well-known civic leader in Los Angeles, as well as a Commissioner for the Department of Recreation and Parks, and a member of the board of L.A.‘s Best, the Mayor’s group that provides reading programs to schools in L.A.

Friendly House is an organization that provides a safe place for women to overcome addictions and be reintegrated into the community. Founded in 1951, the facility was the first treatment center in the US devoted to women recovering from substance and alcohol abuse, and became a model for similar facilities around the world. Over 6,500 women have been treated at Friendly House, with a success rate of 72%. The current location of the facility was donated by William Shatner in 2001, in honor of his late wife.

Stars Go Quackers Over Charity Auction

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and to mark the occasion, Munchkin Inc – designer and manufacturer of infant and toddler products – has announced it will auction celebrity-decorated pink bath duckies on eBay as part of its 3rd Annual Project Pink campaign.

Celebrities such as as Julianne Moore, Courteney Cox and David Arquette, Cindy Crawford, Tori Spelling, Bob Saget, Steven Weber, Jaclyn Smith, Sela Ward, Marissa Jaret Winokur and many more have donated hand-decorated and autographed limited edition pink ducks to the auction, which can be accessed through eBay. Each celebrity duck will be auctioned for a one-week period in the month of October and all auction proceeds will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

“I love Munchkin’s Project Pink,” said Winokur. “These really cute pink bath duckies will help remind women to schedule routine breast exams, while also raising money to support research for a cure. And that’s something to quack about!”
