New Years Eve Stars Stand Up To Cancer

Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) is proud to announce a new public service announcement (PSA) featuring the stellar ensemble cast of the holiday romantic comedy NEW YEAR’S EVE from director Garry Marshall (Pretty Woman, Valentine’s Day), that will appear in national and regional publications during the month of December.

The new SU2C print PSA campaign asks the public to join the cast of New Year’s Eve—which boasts some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, including Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Jon Bon Jovi, Abigail Breslin, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Robert De Niro, Josh Duhamel, Zac Efron, Hector Elizondo, Katherine Heigl, Ashton Kutcher, Seth Meyers, Lea Michele, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Til Schweiger, Hilary Swank and Sofia Vergara — to help change the odds and stand up in the fight against cancer.

The PSA’s theme, “It’s Up2 All of Us to Stand Up To Cancer,” underscores SU2C’s core mantra: each and every one of us can make a difference in the fight against cancer. One in two men and one in three women in the U.S. will be diagnosed in their lifetimes, and this campaign calls on everyone to stand together to change those devastating odds.

Emma Stone And Olivia Wilde Honored For Supporting Cruelty-Free Cosmetics

When actors Emma Stone and Olivia Wilde chose to partner with Revlon, they were signing on to represent one of the country’s first mainstream cruelty-free cosmetics companies.

In 1990 — more than 10 years before either Stone or Wilde landed their first acting roles — Revlon agreed to PETA’s request to permanently ban all product testing on animals. In the intervening decades, it has held fast to that pledge. And for choosing to promote only cruelty-free cosmetics, Emma Stone and Olivia Wilde have both earned a Kind Choices Award from PETA. They will each receive a framed certificate and a card signed by PETA staffers.

“Emma, Olivia, and Revlon have our thanks for encouraging millions of fashion-forward young women to choose makeup that’s luxurious, not lethal,” says PETA Vice President of Laboratory Investigations Kathy Guillermo. “Cruelty-free companies such as Revlon make it easy for all of us to get a glamorous look without harming a hair on a bunny’s head.”

Halle Berry Attends Revlon Charity Lunch

Halle Berry was in the East Hamptons on Sunday for a special charity lunch held at the home Revlon boss Ronald Perelman, and was reportedly over-the-moon after the company announced a special donation to one of her favorite charities.

During the lunch, Berry spoke about her work with the Jenesse Center, an organization that provides victims of domestic violence with a comprehensive, centralized base of support to assist them in addressing their immediate crisis and changing the patterns of their lives.

The New York Post reports: “When Perelman announced Revlon will donate half the $500,000 the centre needs for a new facility, Berry ran a lap around the tables and high-fived the crowd.”

Halle Berry Visits Charity Project In South Africa

Halle Berry took a break from filming in South Africa recently to visit a charity project for underprivileged children.

Although busy filming her new thriller, Dark Tide, the actress took time out to visit the Indlovu Project in the township of Khayelitsha. The project, an initiative of the Shaster Foundation, has seen a squatter community transformed into an eco-village.

“I’m so impressed with all the work that’s being done here. It makes my heart feel good,” said Halle. “There’s sadness too that I feel, but I’m also inspired because I see that people care, and I think that’s what makes a difference in the world – that people really care and show up.”

The three network evening news anchors — who will host the September 10th telecast, executive produced by Laura Ziskin — participated in an interview together last week, discussing the upcoming fundraising event as well as the encouraging progress of “Dream Teams” of researchers SU2C has funded to date. Portions of that interview, the first joint appearance by this group of anchors, also aired on the morning shows.
