Celebrities To Trade For Charity In April

BTIG LLC, an institutional broker dealer specializing in trading and related brokerage services, has announced that it will hold its star-studded 2011 Commissions for Charity day on Wednesday, April 27.

The annual celebrity-filled event has raised more than $15 million from equity and derivative trading commission profits over the last eight years for children’s charities including The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Jacob’s Cure and Catch 25. This year’s trading day will be attended by Joe Girardi, Nick Swisher, Reggie Jackson, John McEnroe and Sean Avery, among others.

“With the help of our celebrity guest traders and the support of our clients, who significantly increase their trading volumes on Charity Day, we have been able to make a real difference to the charities that we support,” said Steven Starker, co-founder of BTIG. “For the first time this year, we will also be rolling out our Commissions for Charity Day beyond the U.S. to our international offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney and London.”

As part of BGC’s sixth annual Charity Day taking place on Monday, September 13, 2010, the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), along with twenty other charities, will receive donations and recognition from a host of celebrities.

BGC was formed by Cantor Fitzgerald, the financial firm which suffered the loss of over 600 employees on 9/11, as it rebuilt following the attacks. On the anniversary of this tragedy, BGC donates all the day’s trading proceeds to selected charities around the world.

The celebrity guest list includes Matthew Modine, Tony Sirico, and Rita Cosby, all of whom are strong supporters of Wounded Warrior Project and our nation’s wounded service men and women.

Stars Become Brokers For BGC Charity Day

BGC will hold its 4th Annual Global Charity Day on Thursday 11th September.

Consistent with its theme, “Working Globally – Giving Locally”, BGC’s offices around the world will raise money for charity as they commemorate September 11 by reaching out to help others.

In New York, London, Paris, Sydney and Hong Kong, celebrities from the worlds of music, stage, screen and sport will join the company’s brokers to help raise money for a number of selected charities. All of BGC’s global revenues generated from the day’s trading will be donated to charity.

Fans of the Sopranos will be licking their lips in anticipation at a new charity auction to hit the World Wide Web this week.

Charity Folks – the online charity auction specialists – are hosting an exciting opportunity to benefit the United Service Organization, and are offering bidders the chance to meet and eat with some of the stars from the hit TV show. Goldberg, Keitel Trading for Charity

On Tuesday, September 11th, celebrity guests will join brokerage firm BGC’s third annual Charity Day, assisting the brokers to raise money for good causes. Stars such as Whoopi Goldberg, Harvey Keitel, Eli Wallach and Yogi Berra will join brokers in conducting real, live trades. 100% of the commissions raised on the day will go to charities such as Blythedale Children’s Hospital, Books for Kids Foundation, Cancer Research Institute, NARSAD Mental Health Research, Project FIND and the Wounded Warrior Project.

A different celebrity will appear on the trading floor every hour, beginning with the New York Jets’ Freeman McNeil at 9 am, Yogi Berra at 10 and Harriet Harris of Desperate Housewives and Frasier at 11. Next to arrive will be Tony Sirico of the Sopranos, who is raising funds for the Wounded Warrior Project. He will be joined by several of the brave service men and women supported by the charity.

At one o’clock, Whoopi Goldberg and Eli Wallach are scheduled to arrive. The rest of the afternoon is scheduled to feature Robert Funaro of The Sopranos; former New York Jet Boomer Esiason, Roy White, formerly of the NY Yankees, former NY Mets’ Ed Kranepool and former NY Knicks’ Earl Monroe along with NY Giants’ lineman Grey Ruegamer and the New York Red Bulls’ Joe Vide.
