Slash And Ozzy Feature In Gibson GuitarTown Charity Auction

Gibson GuitarTown on The Sunset Strip, administered by the Gibson Foundation, is completing its yearlong “tour” of the boulevard and has announced the art guitars will be auctioned for charity on December 3, 2011, at Julien’s Auctions Beverly Hills Gallery (9665 Wilshire Blvd.) beginning at 2 p.m.

The auction will also be accessible online at www.julienslive.com. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Los Angeles Youth Network, which provides outreach, food, emergency shelter, transitional living and educational enrichment programs for homeless adolescents; West Hollywood Arts & Cultural Commission to further support public art and artists on The Sunset Strip; and the West Hollywood Library.

GuitarTown on The Sunset Strip is a larger-than-life public art exhibit celebrating the people and places that have shaped the legendary music boulevard. More than 20 ten-foot Gibson art guitars have lined the 1.6-mile boulevard since August 2010.

Motley Crue Teams With Jack Daniels For Charity

Legendary rock group Motley Crue and Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey have teamed up to provide a one-of-kind offering at the upcoming Sunset Strip Music Festival.

A special barrel of the world famous Tennessee whiskey was selected and donated to the Skylar Neil Memorial Foundation in honor of Motley Crue’s 2011 Elmer Valentine Award they’ll receive at the Festival for their contributions to the history of The Sunset Strip. Approximately 290 commemorative bottles will be available at the SSMF Tribute Night on August 18th for a recommended donation of $100 to the Skylar Neil Foundation. Each bottle will include a medallion with the engraving, “Specially Selected for Motley Crue.”

The Skylar Neil Foundation was founded by singer and musician Vince Neil, in honor of his daughter Skylar, who passed away after a long battle with cancer in 1995. The Skylar Neil Foundation’s mission is to honor Skylar by raising money and awareness through the unique charitable events and activities it sponsors. The foundation both grants and awards the money raised to medical, research, and educational institutions/groups/individuals who are doing breakthrough work to find cures for cancer, AIDS and other diseases.

Vince Neil To Launch Charity Initiative For Sick Kids

International rock icon Vince Neil of Motley Crue and music industry leader Jeff Castelaz of Dangerbird Records, both fathers of children who lost their battles with Wilms’ Tumor, a rare form of pediatric cancer, are teaming up to launch a new joint fundraising and awareness initiative for their respective organizations -The Skylar Neil Memorial Foundation and The Pablove Foundation.

On Tuesday, September 28th, the two rock n’ roll fathers will return to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where their children – Sklyar Neil and Pablo Thrailkill Castelaz – were treated. With renowned physician, Dr. Leo Mascarenhas, who treated both Skylar and Pablo, Neil and Castelaz will speak at this special press conference, along with several special guests.

Neil and Castelaz will honor the memory of their children, as well as all of the young cancer patients currently being treated at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and across the country, while recognizing September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The two dads will take this opportunity to announce plans to raise funds and awareness for the charitable foundations they created to fund pediatric research in the fight against childhood diseases.

Earlier this month, Motley Crue front man, Vince Neil, brought some unusual flair to the Lost Canyons Golf Club in Simi Valley for the Skylar Neil Memorial Golf Tournament. He, along with a host of adult film stars, flocked to the greens to raise money to combat childhood illnesses.

“In 1995, I lost my daughter Skylar to cancer, " writes Neil on his website, “Since that time I have tried to do everything I can to help raise awareness and much needed funding for children’s illnesses. I’m so humbled by the response that we receive from our gracious tournament sponsors and participants for the past eleven years. To date they have helped me to raise nearly two-million dollars to fund research to combat cancer, AIDS and Leukemia. I know that Skylar would be proud of the work that we’ve done, and I couldn’t think of a better way to honor her memory.”

And how does the Lost Canyon Golf Club deal with the number of adult film stars who return year-after-year to honor Skylars memory and raise money for charity? “They’re cool about what we do on the course — the girls, the booze,” Neil said.
