On World Refugee Day, June 20th, a special song recorded by rising star Diamond White, US The X Factor fan-favorite, will be released in support of UNHCR's “1 family” campaign.

The song, Peace, is dedicated to the over 40 million people around the world who have been forced to flee war or persecution.

Written by Grammy award-winning team John Legend and Toby Gad, the song is being released exclusively on World Refugee Day to raise awareness about the pressing humanitarian crises in Syria, Somalia, South Sudan, Congo and Mali. It will be available through the mPowering Action (mPA) mobile app on June 20th for World Refugee Day.

Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational Raises Over $500,000 For Charity

Former St. Louis Cardinals baseball superstars and World Series champion teammates Ozzie Smith and Vince Coleman joined forces to once again win a title – this time on the golf course – at the 12th annual Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational (MJCI) hosted by ARIA Resort & Casino.

The tournament was held at Shadow Creek for the third consecutive year and was highlighted by the winning duo’s score of 11-under par, 133. More than $500,000 was raised for charity as a result of the 2013 event.

Smith and Coleman, who each took home $20,000 for their designated charities, followed up their first-round score of six-under par 66 with a five-under par 67 on day two. They were able to overcome a late surge by the second-place team of Ahmad Rashad and the “Great One” Wayne Gretzky to win by four strokes. The two teams were tied heading into the 17th hole but Smith/Coleman birdied the final two holes while Rashad/Gretzky bogeyed their final two holes.

The first annual charity gala for The White Project is set to take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on December 8, 2012.

The star-studded gala will include entertainers, athletes and celebrities that have dedicated a part of their lives to help children across the globe actively. Nine-time Grammy Award winner John Legend will light up the room with a special performance for the children of the world. HIH Princess Yasmine Pahlavi will be honored during the evening of the gala for her more than 20 years of work as an attorney and activist on behalf of children and at-risk youth. Andy Roddick And John Legend Raise Over $1 Million At Charity Gala

Friday night’s Andy Roddick Foundation (ARF) gala raised more than $1 million.

The seventh annual charity gala featured nine-time Grammy Award winning musician and philanthropist John Legend, and was held at the W Hotel Austin and ACL Live Moody Theater in Austin, Texas.

Andy Roddick will use event proceeds to help fund youth programs at a new 10,000 square-foot, eight-court tennis and learning facility in Austin, and other youth programs run by its partner organizations. Joined by Matthew McConaughey, Roddick and wife Brooklyn Decker, and Legend’s fiancee, Chrissy Teigen, over 1,000 attendees were treated to live pre-concert music, dinner, live and silent auctions, and a concert performance by Legend. McConaughey and wife Camila Alves won an $18,000 bid on a VIP all-access package for the Austin radio program The Bobby Bones Show.

John Legend To Perform At Characters Unite Storytelling Event

USA Network and The Moth present will present A More Perfect Union: Stories of Prejudice and Power – a Characters Unite Storytelling Event – on February 15.  

Hosted by Tony and Emmy Award winner Nathan Lane, the event will feature stories by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black and Golden Globe winner & Academy Award nominee Octavia Spencer, as well as Aimee Mullins and Greg Walloch.

Special guest for the evening will be Matt Bomer, star of USA’s White Collar, and there will be a special performance by Grammy Award winner John Legend Also expected to attend are Willie Garson, Corbin Bernsen, Bruce Campbell and many more.
