On September 22nd, HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco will preside over the fourth “Only Watch” auction of exceptional watches in Monaco. The proceeds of this event, organized by Antiquorum Auctioneers, Geneva, will be used to support research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Tennis star Rafael Nadal is urging fans to drink responsibly in his new role as the Bacardi Limited new Global Social Responsibility Ambassador for their Champions Drink Responsibly campaign

“I think it is a very important social campaign, especially for young people,” he said during a press conference at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami last week. “The campaign is ‘Champions Drink Responsibly,’ but it is a social campaign about if you have to go out, have a plan how to come back home safely…If you go out, you don’t need to drink crazy. You can drink a few glasses of alcohol, or alcohol-free and drink water. I’m very happy to be the ambassador.”

And on Friday night, the Sony Ericsson Open, the WTA and ATP held a fundraiser for the victims of the Japan tsunami which attracted dozens of players- including Nadal, Kim Clijsters and Melanie Oudin- which raised a total of $303,000.

Tennis Stars To Play Celebrity Charity Soccer For Japan

Some of the world’s greatest tennis players will swap their tennis balls for soccer balls in Miami tomorrow, March 23, when they take part in a celebrity charity football game to raise money for victims of Japan’s tsunami.

Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic are some of the stars who will be out in force against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers on March 23. Players will then attend a fundraising dinner later in the evening. Proceeds from the events will go to the American Red Cross.

The 2011 Laureus World Sports Awards returned to Abu Dhabi on February 7, where the who’s who of the sports and entertainment industry gathered to salute the finest sports performances of the year.

The winners, as voted by the Laureus World Sports Academy, the ultimate sports jury, made up of 46 of the greatest sportsmen and sportswomen of all time, were announced at a televised Awards Ceremony staged at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi hosted by double Oscar winner Kevin Spacey.

Proceeds from the event directly benefit the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation which supports almost 80 community projects around the world and have helped to improve the lives of more than one million young people through the use of sport.

After raising thousands of dollars for Haiti last year, Roger Federer hopes to hold another celebrity charity tennis match – this time to raise money for victims of Australia’s devastating floods.

Fifteen people have now been confirmed dead as flood waters continue to rise in Queensland, forcing the evacuation of thousands of people. Animals and property have been swept away in a deluge of water, leaving 74 people missing.

“The floods here in Australia are devastating,” said Federer. "I am on my way to practice now and am going to speak with Tennis Australia to see if we perhaps can organize something on Sunday to help raise some funds for the people of Queensland who have been affected.

Roger Federer And Rafael Nadal Raise $2.6 Million For Charity

World No. 1 Rafael Nadal and rival Roger Federer raised $2.6 million Tuesday night in the first of two exhibition tennis matches to raise funds for their respective foundations.

Nadal suffered a defeat to Federer in their opening clash in Zurich. The match, dubbed “Match for Africa,” raised funds for the Roger Federer Foundation.

“The focus is just solely on two players and one match,” Federer said after the match. “There was quite a pressure going into a match like this, but at the end of the day, it’s so not important who won the match tonight. It was a match for Africa, this money is going to go to a good cause — for my foundation, for kids in Africa — so I’m so proud and so happy that we all made it work, so thanks again to everybody.”

Nadal flew to the royal beach town of Hua Hin where he planted a tree in honor of King Bhumibol Adulyadej at the Kasetsart University Veterinary Hospital

Nadal, the top seed at the PTT Thailand Open, felt honored to take part in the campaign to reduce global warming.

Roger Federer And Refael Nadal Serve Up Charity Portraits

The ATP has commissioned its top tennis players to create unique self-portraits to be auctioned off for charity ahead of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals on November 21-28 at London’s O2 Arena.

Each qualifying tennis-star, eight total, have been asked by the ATP to participate in this creative commission, and so far, qualifiers Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer have completed their self-portraits by smashing paint-covered tennis balls at a giant canvas. Each canvas was overlaid with a stenciled image which, when removed, revealed their signature move on court.

Talking about the initiative, Nadal said that it was a challenge to put the balls on the silhouette.

On the eve of the Australian Open, Roger Federer had his eye on more than a trophy – because three days prior, the earthquake in Haiti stuck and killed at last 200,000 people. So what’s a champ to do except hold a charity tennis match to aid relief efforts

Federer initiated and organized a mixed-doubles fundraiser that raised more than $600,000 and featured some of tennis’ top stars, wearing microphones on court and providing comedic commentary as they played.

The star has matched last week’s donation of $1 million from Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

Former tennis ace Lleyton Hewitt will be in Melbourne on Thursday, October 30, to promote a new charity auction.

The Cure Our Kids auction includes a range of unique items, such as the tennis racquet used by world No.1 Rafael Nadal, Ana Ivanovic’s pink tennis dress from her French Open win, as well as items from celebrities including Russell Crowe, Andre Agassi, Gwen Stefani, Toni Collette and Hugh Jackman.

“We’ve [also] got a signed shirt from Roger Federer that he actually gave me after he beat me, which is the last thing you want to see from someone who has beaten you in the locker room,” said Hewitt. “It’s been hard bringing it all together – but it’s very satisfying.”

On August 23, 2007, at the W Hotel in New York, over 400 food, wine and tennis fans convened for the Dacor Taste of Tennis Food and Wine event to benefit the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.

Coinciding with the launch of the 2007 US Open, the event featured tennis stars such as Andy Roddick, Tommy Haas and Rafael Nadal as they traded in their rackets for aprons and joined forces with some of the world’s top chefs in cooking demonstrations. Celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson and more than a dozen top-ranked restaurants – Amalia, The Palm, Barbounia, Anthos, davidburke&donatella – all had chefs on hand to prepare mouthwatering dishes such as mini crab cakes with Aleppo mayonnaise and braised short ribs with sea salt and butterscotch-carrot puree.

Aquavit chef Marcus Samuelsson, whose new African restaurant opens in October, guided Roddick through the culinary process of making mango, raisin and jalapeño couscous with Moroccan-spiced lamb. Guest enjoyed stations and bars set up by Rums of Puerta Rico, Pilsner and Palm Bay Imports, while players participated in cooking demonstrations and mingled with guests in lounges spread throughout the hotel.
