Stars Donate To Fashion For Sandy Relief Charity Auction

In response to the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and Vogue have partnered with luxury charity auction site Charitybuzz.com to launch FASHION FOR SANDY RELIEF, an online auction as a collective industry fundraiser to benefit those affected by the storm.

Through an outpouring of support from the fashion community and friends including celebrities, designers, athletes and business icons, the CFDA and Vogue have secured nearly 150 once-in-a-lifetime experiences for the auction block just one week after launching on November 13.

Current participants include Anna Wintour, Diane von Furstenberg, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Donna Karan, Vera Wang, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Gwyneth Paltrow, Heidi Klum, Victoria Beckham, David Yurman, Jerry Seinfeld, Steven Tyler, Maria Sharapova, Roger Federer and many more.

Sammy Hagar: The Red Rocker Gives Back

On March 15, ex-Van Halen front-man and lead singer of Chickenfoot, rocker Sammy Hagar will release his autobiography, titled “Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock,” via ITBooks and HarperCollins Publishers.

And while the book claims an uncensored look at his life as a rock-star, perhaps it’s his five-and-a-half-minute video on YouTube that holds the key to Hagar’s character.

“There are literally thousands of children who are better off, who are getting a better education, whose tummies are full, who can thank Sammy Hagar,” Stan Curtis, Blessings in a Backpack founder, says in the video’s opening.

Sandra Bullock Fronts Celebrity Charity PSA For Gulf Relief

In the face of the Gulf oil spill and in response to ongoing coastal restoration needs, the Women of the Storm, a non-partisan, grassroots organization formed in New Orleans and South Louisiana in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, announce today the launch of a campaign to Restore the Gulf.

A grassroots initiative to secure long-term funding to restore and protect the Gulf Coast and area wetlands, Restore the Gulf features the viral distribution of a celebrity-studded video, “Be the One,” designed to capture signatures to an online petition in support of this cause.

12th Annual Andre Agassi Benefit Concert Raises More than $9 Million for Children

The 12th Annual Andre Agassi Grand Slam for Children Benefit Concert presented by Genworth Financial proved to be a raging success last weekend, raising more than $9 million for the Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation. The AACF raised $8.1 million through ticket sales and a silent auction, while Charles Heers, owner of Tuscany Suites & Casino in Las Vegas pledged an additional $1 million to bring the total to $9.1 million.

“I am grateful that there are so many people dedicated to helping kids,” Agassi said. “I’m thrilled with the turnout from the public, the generosity of our sponsors, donors and bidders, and the commitment and talent of the performers who so graciously give their time to the Grand Slam. It was one of the greatest nights of the year.”

The star-studded concert at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on October 6th attracted more than 8,200 fans who enjoyed live music by Tony Bennett, Kelly Clarkson, Matchbox Twenty and George Wallace. Several surprises throughout the night included performances by Jerry Seinfeld, the Goo Goo Dolls and Hall & Oats. Fans were also treated to a fantastic performance from Carlos Santana and Matchbox Twenty front man Rob Thomas, who teamed up to close the evening with their multi-Grammy Award- winning hit “Smooth.”
