Big Names To Attend Rockin' Horses Charity Event

On 26th February London’s iconic Savoy Theatre plays host for one night only to Rockin’ Horses, an evening of music, comedy, poetry and more! Boasting a star-studded line up, the show will be raising money for Shooting Star CHASE and the Mane Chance Sanctuary.

The glittering line up will include stars such as Shooting Star CHASE patron, Olivier award winner and multi-platinum recording artist Michael Ball; who will perform alongside national treasure Christopher Biggins; Atomic Kitten and West End star Natasha Hamilton; and TV’s Judge John Deed, Broadway and West End actor Martin Shaw, as well as many other famous faces. A whole bunch of British celebrities have donated their woolly hats to a new charity auction that aims to raise money for the homeless.

Charity St. Mungo’s is putting hats from famous heads belonging to Eric Clapton, Ricky Gervais, Sienna Miller, Alan Carr, Fearne Cotton, Simon Pegg, Elvis Costello, Helena Bonham Carter, Joan Collins and many more under the hammer.

St. Mungo’s is hosting Woolly Hat Day on November 4. There are so many ways you can be involved in Woolly Hat Day 2011. Girls Aloud’s Nicola Roberts is fronting a charity Clothes Throw to raise money for Alder Hey Imagine Appeal.

The Girls Aloud star turned solo artist revealed how pleased she is to support Alder Hey when she visited patients on their cancer unit: “I am really excited to be fronting the Clothes Throw 2011 campaign! I’m an avid supporter of Alder Hey Imagine Appeal. I visit Alder Hey and the patients there really touch my heart.”

The Clothes Throw is in its third year but has been able to expand greatly with the help of Liverpool ONE. Alongside Nicola a host of celebrities and retailers have donated clothes and accessories to raise money for the children’s hospital.

Christopher Reeve’s teenage son paid tribute to his late mother and father at a celebrity charity gala in New York this week.

The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation was established by the Superman star and his wife to find treatments and cures for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury and other neurological disorders, and improve the quality of life for people living with disabilities.

“To me, Mom and Dad were the people who forced me to eat broccoli and to turn the TV off to do my homework,” said 17-year-old Will Reeve, whose father died in 2004, and whose mother died in 2006. The annual Carousel of Hope Gala will take place this month to raise money for the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes.

Presented by Jay Leno, the gala will take place at the Beverly Hilton on Saturday, October 23, and will honor Maria Shriver and Quincy Jones for their charity work.

This year celebrates 31 years of helping children with diabetes through the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes. Held every two years, this is the 19th Carousel of Hope. From its inception in 1978, the Ball has raised over $70 million.

Yoko Ono is just one of a number of A list stars who have donated something from their personal wardrobe to raise funds for Alder Hey Imagine Appeal.

The diminutive star has chosen a pair of her own iconic Porsche Carrera sunglasses and signed them for the charity’s unique Clothes Throw event, which starts with a special online auction this Sunday 3rd October for seven days. An auction item of this stature rarely comes along and organisers are delighted that Yoko Ono, who is Honorary Patron of the charity, has donated these signed sunglasses, like the ones she wore on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine in the 1980s.

“I am delighted to be able to support this important fundraising initiative by donating a pair of my favorite sunglasses- the ones that John loved to see me wear,” said Yoko. “As Honorary Patron of Alder Hey Imagine Appeal, I know how much the funds are needed to support the pioneering work of this wonderful hospital.”

With decades of experience being photographed, Joan Collins knows what makes a good picture. Along with a host of other well-known Brits, Ms. Collins will be putting her knowledge to use as a judge of a UK photography contest running through June 11, 2010.

The contest, which is free to enter, is being held by Fight for Sight, a UK charity dedicated to researching and funding initiatives to combat sight loss and eye disease.

Called “My View of London,” the competition invites both amateur and professional shutterbugs to submit their favorite shot of the city. The prizes will be announced in late June, and include a three-night stay in a Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London penthouse suite, complete with fancy dinners and celebrity spa treatment.

Archant London hosted a Press Ball for Caudwell Children. The Butterfly Ball at the Landmark Hotel in London’s Regent Park was attended by some truly inspiring people. Archant London’s Managing Director, Enzo Testa, welcomed the guests telling them though financial conditions were tough, he was confident that by their very presence, their generosity would produce a wealth of cash for the children, and so it proved.
