You’ve had your say and cast your votes, and today Russell Brand and Kristen Wiig have been named as PETA’s sexiest celebrity vegetarians for 2011.

The pair were up against last year’s winner’s – Olivia Wilde and Bob Harper – as well as Bill Clinton, Bryan Adams, Jared Leto, Alyssa Milano, Aimee Teegarden, Isabel Lucas, Hayden Panettiere, Ellen DeGeneres and past winners Anthony Kiedis, Leona Lewis, Kellie Pickler and a host of others.

According to PETA: "Russell, a vegetarian since the age of 14, keeps us endlessly entertained with his wit and crazy antics, which always leave us wanting more. He explains, “You shouldn’t eat animals, it’s mean to them.” Kristen makes us laugh until we cry in whatever she does—whether she’s lighting up the big screen in films like Bridesmaids or cracking us up with her unique characters on Saturday Night Live. Her jam-packed schedule is often crazy, so Kristen stays healthy by eating lots of tofu and soy. But both of these hilarious hotties know that there’s nothing funny about the abuse endured by animals raised for food on factory farms. Stars To Attend Sea Shepherd Charity Event

The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society will host a star-studded celebrity red carpet benefit on Saturday, October 23, to defend, conserve and protect the seas.

Captain Paul Watson, President of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and star of “Whale Wars” on Discovery Networks’ Animal Planet will commence their most daring campaign, Operation No Compromise, as well as introduce their new, fast interceptor vessel that will join their fleet this winter to Antarctica. Last year, they saved the lives of 528 whales; this year’s mission will be the boldest crusade to send the whalers home empty handed.

Hayden Panettiere Revisits The Dolphin Hunters In Taiji

Heroes star Hayden Panettiere was back in Japan last week to demand an end to dolphin hunting.

The star returned to Taiji – along with her boxer boyfriend Wladimir Klitschko – to try to gain a meeting with a local mayor, but was refused entry. The star was last in Taiji to protest in 2007, when she joined Australian actress Isabel Lucas and other activists in a peaceful protest to raise awareness of the 25,000 dolphins slaughtered by the nation every year. The group narrowly avoided arrest over the incident, but succeeded in diverting international media to the abhorrent and barbaric practices used to butcher the animals.

“We are trying to peacefully come up with better ideas as to how to generate income and utilise the nature here,” said the actress, who is a spokesperson for the Save The Whales Again campaign. “We’ve been to Taiji before and it’s a beautiful place with beautiful wildlife. We just wanted to have a very peaceful and relaxed conversation.”

Kilimanjaro Climber Offers Free Song From The Summit

Singer Kenna, who was among the team of celebrities to climb to the top of Africa’s highest peak for the Summit on the Summit Kilimanjaro campaign, has released a new song for free to add to his efforts at raising awareness about the global clean water crisis.

The philanthropic star summated Mt. Kilimanjaro on January 12, along with actors Emile Hirsch, Jessica Biel, Isabel Lucas and rapper Lupe Fiasco among others, and now he’s encouraging fans to support the water mission by making his new song “Turn” available for free on his MySpace page. 

In exchange, Kenna’s asking devotees to make a small donation to the Summit charity.

Last September, Jessica Biel and several other celebrities announced they would trek to the top of Africa’s highest peak to raise awareness about the need for clean water.

“This is a basic human necessity that needs to be addressed now,” she said at the time. “I want to help any way I can in order to raise awareness toward the life-threatening clean water crisis happening not only in Africa but around the world.”

Now, almost four months later and after five days of serious climbing, the group which also includes ‘Into the Wild’ star Emile Hirsch, Grammy-nominated musician Kenna, rappers Lupe Fiasco and Santigold, have reached the summit of the 19,340–foot Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest peak, to raise awareness of the global water crisis.

Australian actress Isabel Lucas may currently be climbing Kilimanjaro with a host of her celebrity friends for charity, but just before she left she recorded an advert for the the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.

“Isabel was out here late last year and appeared on Rove and said she would love to support us,” said the organisation’s Australian director Jeff Hansen. He went on to explain that the ad was actually filmed last winter, but now is the time to act as the organization battles the Japanese whalers in the Southern Ocean.

The Australian advert coincides with Lucas’ climb for charity.

Actor Emile Hirsch has announced he will join Jessica Biel and Isabel Lucas in climbing Mt Kilimanjaro for charity over the next week.

Summit on the Summit will see the stars join Kenna, Lupe Fiasco and others climb the highest peak in Africa to raise money and awareness for the Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and PlayPumps International.

Hirsch describes the climb as “an epic adventure with an educational process on the global water crisis,” and adds “Put this on the books: I’m making it to the top.”

Heroes star and Eco-warrior princess Hayden Panettiere was up early in Saturday morning to go Christmas shopping with a group of children from the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

The 20-year-old star accompanied five girls on a shopping spree at Candie’s in San Gabriel. She gave the girls fashion tips – “Not many of them listened to me!” – and helped them choose clothes and accessories using gifts of $500.

The girls that were chosen to accompany Panettiere suffer from a range of health problems, including aneurisms, strokes, paralysis of the nerves and spine and sickle cell anemia.
