Sian Phillips

Welsh actress Sian Phillips is best known for her work as the tarantula empress in the BBC’s ‘I, Claudius’ and the Reverend Mother in 1985’s ‘Dune’. In 2000, she was made a CBE in the Queen’s birthday honours list for her contribution to theatre. She was also given the highest welsh acting honour when she was made a member of the Honorary Order of Druids.

She is a patron of RAFT, the UK charity carrying out pioneering work in the treatment of major wounds and skin traumas. After visiting the centre in November she told local newspapers that she ‘was truly amazed at the work that goes on there.’
