Exclusive: Jordin Sparks Visits The Gulf Coast Oil Spill

Last week, LookToTheStars.org posted an exclusive interview with Jordin Sparks, in which she spoke about her charity work. Days after the interview, Jordin traveled to Louisiana with the Audubon Society to view the effects of the oil spill on the wildlife and marshes. We were lucky to get to speak to Jordin’s mother, Jodi Sparks, and the Audubon Society’s Mississippi River Initiative Coordinator – David Ringer – about her trip.

Jodi, what prompted Jordin’s trip to the Gulf?

Jordin woke up one morning to the news, realized she was going to be in Louisiana for her tour, called me and said “I don’t care what I have to do, how early I have to get up, I HAVE to do something!” She was touched by the wildlife that was affected so we decided to call Audubon and see how we could help.

Exclusive: Jordin Sparks Talks Charity With Look To The Stars

Wholesome, talented and sincere are the three words that come to mind when speaking of the Grammy-nominated 2007 “American Idol” winner, Jordin Sparks.

Sparks is currently on her first headlining tour through mid-July in support of her second album, “Battlefield,” before heading to Broadway to star in “In The Heights.” Yet despite her busy schedule, Sparks relentlessly uses her name for good.

While maintaining a strong connection with her fan base, she’s using social media networks such as Twitter to inspire fan involvement with a number of causes including Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer, the X The TXT campaign and if you listen carefully, you’ll hear Jordins heartbeat pulsating within an entire generation of fans out there making changes within their own communities.

Sigourney Weaver Awards Outstanding Women In Conservation

Actress and environmentalist Sigourney Weaver played Master of Ceremonies last month at the Audubon Society’s annual Women In Conservation award luncheon in New York.

Among the recipients of Audubon’s Rachel Carson Award was Bette Midler for her extraordinary contribution to conservation and the environment.

Specifically, Midler was being recognized for her New York Restoration Project (NYRP), which she founded in 1995 as a response to her initial disappointment to the visual pollution when she first moved to New York City.
