Meet The Jonas Brothers For Charity

Last week, LookToTheStars.org brought you the exciting news that the Jonas Brothers are to be honored for the charity work by the TJ Martell Foundation. We can now add that CharityFolks.com have launched an incredible auction to meet the band backstage.

The singing siblings will perform at the 11th annual TJ Martell Foundation Family Day in New York City, to be held on April 18 at the Roseland Ballroom, and will be honored along with their management for their work with children’s causes.

Charity Folks is auctioning a number of meet-and-greet opportunities – which include photos and autographs – as well as packages that include access to soundcheck on the day.

The singers established their own charity, the Change for the Children Foundation, to support programs that motivate and inspire children to face adversity with confidence, determination and a will to succeed.

The T. J Martell Foundation, founded in 1975 by Columbia/Sony music industry executive Tony Martell in memory of his son – a victim of leukemia – has raised more than $230 million over 33-years to combat the world’s three most deadliest diseases – leukemia, cancer, and AIDS.

Grateful Dead Top Charity Auction Earner For 2009

Top celebrity charity auction site Charity Folks has named its top celebrity earners for 2009, and the list is an eclectic mix of old and new.

The top charity earner for 2009 has surprised many people, but is a testament to longevity in the music business. Ever since the Grateful Dead began its legendary career nearly 45 years ago, the band has supported worthy causes that serve to raise awareness, lend support, and make this world a better place. Continuing this long-standing tradition of community service that has been a hallmark of the Dead and the Deadhead community, The Dead, known as one of the greatest touring bands of all time, partnered with Charity Folks to auction a limited number of tickets to their 2009 shows.

The auctions raised over $400,000 for a number of charities, including the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.

Coming in second on the list by raising $300,000 through charity auctions were the Jonas Brothers. The trio of siblings raised money by auctioning meet-and-greets and other experiences to benefit their Change for the Children Foundation.

Other stars to make the list this year included Taylor Swift, Dave Matthews, Bette Midler, Larry David, Alec Baldwin and Bruce Springsteen.

Joe Jonas: Running For A Good Cause

Joe Jonas is lacing up his sneakers for charity.

The pop star will take time out from touring to support the iWin Joe Jonas Fun Run. The event will benefit the brothers’ Change for the Children Foundation and Special Olympics Texas. 15 lucky runners will be able to sprint with Joe as he leads the 3.1 mile race. After the run, Joe will join the rest of the Jonas brood to perform at the AT&T Arena for a sold-out concert.

The Jonas brothers are familiar with both sold-out concerts and charity. The brothers started the Change for the Children Foundation to support programs that motivate children to face hardship with confidence and a will to succeed. The charity currently supports five organizations: Nothing But Nets, the American Diabetes Association, the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Children's Hospital Los Angeles, and the Summer Stars Camp for the Performing Arts.

Nick Jonas To Talk Diabetes At Press Club

Nick Jonas – singer, songwriter, actor and member of the Grammy-nominated band, Jonas Brothers – will speak at a National Press Club luncheon on August 24. Jonas will discuss his personal experiences living with and managing his juvenile diabetes and his efforts to inspire other youth dealing with diabetes to manage their disease.

Since being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 13, the pop super star who tests his blood sugar more than ten times a day, has made a personal commitment to raise awareness about juvenile diabetes. In June, he testified before Congress to call for support of diabetes research funding. He wrote the song “A Little Bit Longer” to inspire those with diabetes to live their lives to the fullest. Together with his brothers Kevin and Joe, Nick founded the Jonas Brothers’ Change for the Children Foundation to support programs that motivate children to face adversity and one of their causes is to raise money and awareness for various diabetes programs.

As a diabetes ambassador with Bayer Diabetes Care, Jonas has launched a national awareness campaign to provide young people and their families with motivation and support to simplify life with the disease. “Nick’s Simple Wins” website (www.NicksSimpleWins.com) helps inspire young people with diabetes to achieve small, everyday victories while managing their disease. Nick and Bayer created dog tags as a symbol of support for people with diabetes, increase awareness about the disease and raise money for his foundation.

The National Press Club luncheon will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m. and Nick Jonas’ remarks will begin just after 1:00 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session. Jonas Brothers Play Softball For Children's Charity

The Jonas Brothers played a special charity softball game in Virginia on Monday, July 13.

The boyband and their road crew took on staff members of AOL’s corporate office at the company’s celebrity softball game for employees and families of AOL’s Dulles campus as part of the company’s Summer Sizzle program, with proceeds going to the band’s Change for the Children Foundation.

The brothers established the foundation to support programs that motivate and inspire children to face adversity with confidence, determination and a will to succeed. For every home run, AOL donated $100 to the foundation, and Monday’s softball game raised almost $3,000 for the charity.

Over 2,000 people attended the game.

Jonas Brothers To Play Charity Concert For Auto Show

The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) has announced the Grammy nominated Jonas Brothers will play a special concert at Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena on January 18, 2009 to help raise funds for the annual Charity Preview.

The 2009 Charity Preview will take place at Cobo Center on January 16 from 6-9 PM. Since its inception in 1976, Charity Preview has raised over $77 million for children’s charities in metro Detroit — over $32 million of which was raised in the last five years alone. Medical treatment, clothing and support services for local kids in need all are made possible through the purchase of Charity Preview tickets. The annual event has delivered more than $6 million to children’s charities in Southeastern Michigan.

Metro Detroit area beneficiaries of the Charity Preview include: Barat Child and Family Services; Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern Michigan; Boys Hope Girls Hope of Detroit; The Children's Center, Judson Center, Children’s Services of Northeastern Guidance Center Assistance League, The Detroit Institute for Children, Think Detroit PAL, Easter Seals – Michigan, March Of Dimes, Children’s Hospital of Michigan, and the DADA Charitable Foundation Fund – a fund of the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan.

The Jonas Brothers join a growing list of celebrities that have attended Charity Preview in years past to help raise funds for children in need. Previous attendees include Céline Dion, Aretha Franklin, Kid Rock, Kevin Bacon and Jay Leno. Through their Change for the Children Foundation, the Jonas Brothers raise funds to support programs that motivate and inspire children to face adversity with confidence, determination and the will to succeed. Their first fundraising initiative – You Decide. You Donate. – launched this past summer and through the generosity of their fans, was able to donate to charities including NothingButNets.net, American Diabetes Association’s Diabetes Camp, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Children's Hospital Los Angeles and Summer Stars.

For every Charity Preview ticket purchased, patrons will receive one free ticket to see the Jonas Brothers live in concert on January 18, 2009 at Joe Louis Arena. There are a limited number of Charity Preview tickets that are tied to the Jonas Brothers concert. Tickets must be purchased between December 23, 2008 and January 5, 2009. Proceeds from all ticket sales will go to benefit Charity Preview. Charity Preview ticket holders who purchased prior to December 23 will be contacted and given the option for Jonas Brothers tickets as well.

Jonas Brothers Top List Of Favorite Celebrity Charity Auctions

Charity auction website Charity Folks has released its list of the Top 10 hottest celebrity draws for 2008.

Heading the list is the Jonas Brothers, who raised a massive $450,000 in an auction that offered VIP tickets and meet-and-greets and benefited their Change for the Children Foundation, the charity they set up to support programs that motivate and inspire children to face adversity with confidence, determination and a will to succeed.

Coming in a close second on the list was Billy Joel, who raised $400,000 for Charity Begins At Home from a private New York concert. Bruce Springsteen was third with $300,000, followed by Morgan Freeman, Howard Stern sidekick Robin Quivers, and the cast of The Sopranos.

Jonas Brothers Unite For Diabetes

Boy band The Jonas Brothers have partnered with Bayer Diabetes Care to encourage young diabetes sufferers to manage their condition.

The brothers – Nick (who has diabetes), Kevin, and Joe – launched the partnership in conjunction with their Change for the Children Foundation, a charity they established to support programs that motivate and inspire children facing adversity. Their new single – A Little Bit Longer – is also spreading awareness of the condition.

Bayer kicked off the partnership on Wednesday, with a large donation to the Change for the Children Foundation, and will provide resources and information over the next three years specifically designed for young people with diabetes to help them simplify their lives and successfully manage their disease.

“Nearly every day I hear from someone like me who says that I make them feel it’s OK to have diabetes and that’s really cool that I can do that,” said Nick Jonas. “I know I’m lucky because I have a family that encourages me a lot. I want to give that same inspiration to other kids with diabetes, and working with Bayer lets me do that.”

As part of the partnership, diabetes sufferers and their families can log on to www.NicksSimpleWins.com, where they can check out more about Nick’s personal experiences with the condition. The site has been set up so Nick can blog about his latest activities, and will also give updates on chances to meet him in person and share ideas on how to manage diabetes.

“Nick is a deeply passionate role model for young people with diabetes and their families, and Bayer shares in his dedication,” said Sandra Peterson, President of Bayer Diabetes Care. “Bayer believes Nick can play a significant role in encouraging all people with diabetes, no matter how young or old, to be proactive in managing their diabetes to live their lives to the fullest.”
