Halle Berry Reveals Philanthropic Inspiration

Academy Award winner Halle Berry has revealed how she was inspired to become a major spokesperson for women’s cancer causes after discovering her obstetrician’s wife was battling breast cancer.

Berry – who is an Ambassador for the Calloway Golf Foundation Women’s Cancer Initiative – watched her doctor, Bobby Katz, and his wife battle heroically with the stresses of cancer while he guided the actress through her pregnancy.

“Watching them go through their struggle made me respect the resilience of those who are suffering,” said Berry, who went on to take part in the 15th annual Entertainment Industry Foundation Run/Walk for Women in Los Angeles in May.

Desperate Housewives star Kyle Maclachlan is to feature in a new cancer awareness advertisement.

The 49-year-old former Twin Peaks actor is to front a new public service announcement on behalf of the Callaway Golf Foundation Women’s Cancer Initiative urging women to seek early detection for ovarian cancer.
