Ten Prince’s Trust 2012 Games Young Ambassadors met the British Prime Minister David Cameron at a reception held at 10 Downing Street recently.

The Prince’s Trust 2012 Games Young Ambassadors were invited to the Downing Street reception, which was held ahead of the Laureus World Sports Awards in London.

Also at the reception were some of the world’s most prestigious sporting figures, including world number one tennis player Novak Djokovic, boxing legend Lennox Lewis, 2011 Tour de France winner Cadel Evans, Formula 1 driver David Coulthard and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

The Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, met young people working to make society a better place through his Youth United initiative this week.

His Royal Highness visited a London café opened in memory of murdered schoolboy Jimmy Mizen, and met young representatives from The Prince’s Trust, the Scout Association, and Families United including the Mizen family.

The Prince of Wales has worked for 35 years through the Prince’s Trust to help young people overcome barriers and boost their self-esteem. Youth United is a collaborative effort between youth organizations and the army and police force to enable young people to help make positive changes in their communities.

Alexandra Burke Dazzles At Charity Diamond Ball

Former X Factor winner and guest judge Alexandra Burke dazzled audiences at the annual Diamond Ball in Liverpool last week, helping to raise £50,000 for the Prince’s Trust.

Alexandra – who has had hits including ‘Bad Girls’ and ‘Hallelujah’ – put on an exclusive performance for hundreds of guests at the beautiful St George’s Hall. The event was a great success and raised £50,000 to help disadvantaged young people in the North West get into work, training or education.

“It was great to be playing in Liverpool as the people are always so friendly and supportive,” said Alexandra. “The Prince’s Trust is a great cause and does fantastic work with young people across the region. I feel honoured to be able to help in some way.”

Pete Townshend, The Feeling and Boy George were part of a star-studded line up that rocked the Royal Albert Hall for The Prince’s Trust Rock Gala supported by Novae.

The music extravaganza, hosted by Edith Bowman and Patrick Kielty, raised vital funds – and the roof – for the youth charity’s vital work with disadvantaged young people. The fundraiser comes in the wake of news that more than a million 16 to 24 year-olds are out of work, the highest number since records began in 1992.

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall recently met young people from some of the communities most affected by the London riots at The Prince’s Trust centre in Hackney.

The visit comes as The Prince of Wales’ youth charity – The Prince’s Trust – announces plans to double its support for young people across five of the areas hardest hit by the England riots, including Manchester, Birmingham and the London communities of Hackney, Tottenham and Croydon.

The Trust is planning a £2.5 million investment in these areas, giving disadvantaged young people positive opportunities to keep their lives on track. As well as committing £1 million from funds already raised, the charity is calling on the business community to back a £1.5 million fundraising drive to raise the rest of the cash.
