Gabriella Cilmi To Headline Charity Ball For Age UK

Australian singer Gabriella Cilmi is the first artist revealed to be performing at Age UK’s inaugural Vitality Ball in May.

The ‘Sweet About Me’ singer will be joined by a line-up of special performers who will entertain a star-studded audience at London’s The Brewery in the City at 7.00pm on Thursday 5th May. Celebrity guests attending the event, hosted in partnership with E.on, will include Barbara Windsor, June Whitfield and Lionel Blair.

Age UK – a new charity that incorporates Age Concern and Help The Aged – has launched a new television ad campaign that features Ian McKellen, Brian Cox and Eleanor Bron following research that reveals that 78% of people over 60 feel that older people are ignored by society.

The new advertising campaign – also fronted by television fitness expert Diana Moran – aims to showcase the range of ways that Age UK can help the aged‚ as well as the products and services it offers and how people can get in touch.

“I am an extremely active 70 year old and make a very valuable contribution to society,” said Moran. “I am happy to help highlight the search to find stories of other people doing remarkable things and celebrating the joy of later life.”

Liz McClarnon Named As Charity Ambassador

TV presenter and former Atomic Kitten Liz McClarnon has teamed up with leading older people’s charities Age Concern and Help The Aged to raise awareness of the serious issues some people face in later life.

The 28-year-old Liverpuddlian beauty knows only too well the challenges that can come with getting older. The family was heartbroken when Liz’s 102-year-old great-grandmother was told she would have to leave her care home after it could no longer afford to remain open. She was forced to move and sadly died a few months later.

You can hire dresses that once adorned the famous bodies of Scarlett Johansson, Dita Von Teese, Erin O’Connor, Freida Pinto, Kate Moss, Kimberly Stewart, Little Boots, Naomi Campbell, Peaches Geldof, Sophie Dahl, America Ferrera and many more.

Proceeds from hiring the dresses will go to Age Concern and Help The Aged. The dresses will be auctioned after Christmas.

Roger Moore To Attend Charity Event For The Aged

Age Concern and Help The Aged – two of Britian’s major organzation’s for the elderly – are inviting Londoners to a star-studded Christmas ‘A Star For Christmas’ concert. Tickets have now gone on sale for the festive celebration, which includes poems, readings and music from celebrities such as Sir Roger Moore, Lionel Blair and June Whitfield.

Taking place at 6.30pm at St Paul’s Church, Knightsbridge, on Monday 7th December, ‘A Star For Christmas’ features a host of star performances and music from the Sylvia Young Theatre School, as well as the opportunity for guests to mingle with celebrities afterwards at a wine and mince pie reception.
