Brian May And Jimmy Page Portraits On Sale For Charity

Two of Rock’s greatest guitarists are featured in artworks on sale to benefit a charity that helps vulnerable children in Brazil.

Portraits of Queen guitarist Brian May and Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page are available to benefit the ABC Trust, a charity established by Page. Both rockers are patrons of the charity.

Brian May’s portrait is a stunning composite made up of a photo provided personally by the legendary musician. The original photo has been divided into 12 parts and painted in the individual styles of 12 different Oak Apple Art artists. The finished work is available for £250.

Classic Rockers Join Led Zep Guitarist For Charity

Some of the biggest names in classic rock have donated items to an auction that benefits a charity supported by one of their contemporaries.

Task Brazil is a UK-based charity established in 1992 that improves the lives and supports the needs of children and pregnant teenage girls living on the streets of Brazil. The charity received a huge boost in 1997 when Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page, who witnessed first hand the deprivation of the children and troubles in the favelas whilst playing in Rio de Janeiro, made a massive donation. The money was used to buy a plot of land in Santa Teresa on which ‘Casa Jimmy’ was built to provide a safe and happy home for a lucky few of the abandoned children.

The current auction features loads of Led Zep items signed by Page, as well as guitars signed by Slash and the Eagles’ Joe Walsh, and items signed by Phil Collins, Bob Geldof, Iron Maiden and many others.

Lost’s Evangeline Lilly is launching her personally-inspired Brazilian-made line of intimate lingerie by holding a special charity auction on eBay.

The actress’ hand-picked collection includes over 2,000 items in an assortment of cuts, colors and styles, with proceeds going to Task Brazil.

“Task Brazil is an organization that gives the street kids in Brazil a fighting chance at a happy and prosperous life,” said Lilly. “On eBay, I’m offering beautiful Brazilian-made lingerie as a fun and enticing way for you to not only invest in yourself, but also in the poor and abandoned children of Brazil.”
