Esai Morales Honored At 3rd Annual Dream Awards For Hollywood Arts

Last weekend at Hollywood’s Raleigh Studios, almost 300 actors, musicians, artists, producers, directors and philanthropists came together for the 3rd Annual Dream Awards, hosted by non-profit organization Hollywood Arts.

Honoring Caprica star Esai Morales, Marilyn producer Anthony Rhulen of FilmEngine and Dr. Howard Samuels of the Hills Treatment Center, the Hollywood community came out to celebrate and support the organization and three individuals who have spent their time and effort supporting Hollywood Art’s Mission to help at-risk youth. E!’s charismatic host Michael Yo hosted the evening and kept things going with a smile, enthusiasm and a good sense of humor.

Academy Award winning actress Tatum O’Neal spoke from the heart about the “Secret Society” some Hollywood stars join before presenting Dr. Samuels with the Inspiration Award. NYPD Blue star Jimmy Smits proudly and playfully presented the Paragon Award to Caprica star and good friend Esai Morales. Per Smits, Hollywood Arts couldn’t have chosen a better man to receive the Award, stating that the definition of ‘Paragon’, a model of excellence, was a great description of Morales, who gives back and is humble about it. Behind Enemy Lines director John Moore introduced honoree Anthony Rhulen who shared that it took him a while until he realized how much what his father did meant to the communities.

Stars Join Forces For At-Risk Youth Through Hollywood Arts

Oscar-winner Adrien Brody, The Good Wife star Alan Cumming, Greg Finley (Secret Life of the American Teenager), Monica Raymund (Lie to Me) and other celebrities are teaming up to support Hollywood Arts, a Los Angeles-based non-profit that empowers homeless and at-risk youth through art and music-based programs.

In a new PSA, the stars share their personal stories of mentorship and how the arts changed, and sometimes saved, their lives.

Join Steve Vai For Charity Rock Auction

Guitar legend Steve Vai will hold a special charity screening of his new film, Steve Vai Live In Minneapolis: Where The Wild Things Are, followed by a charity auction in Hollywood next week.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Hollywood Arts, an arts academy that provides creative and commercial art instruction to homeless and at-risk youth. The guitarist has been a member of the board of directors since 2007.

A selection of rockers such as Slash, Ozzy Osbourne, Niko McBrain (Iron Maiden), Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine) and many others have donated signed items for a silent auction that will be held on the night, and there will also be an eBay auction.
