End Water Poverty

Summary

End Water Poverty is a global coalition campaign aiming to end the water and sanitation crisis that kills 4000 children every single day. That’s more than AIDS, malaria and measles combined. We lobby rich governments to provide smarter aid and help developing governments to provide water and sanitation facilities to their citizens.

The water and sanitation crisis has a crippling effect on wider development – girls can’t go to school because their time is taken fetching water or caring for those struck down with water-borne illnesses. People can’t work due to illness and fragile health systems are overburdened with patients suffering from diarrhoea, dysentery and cholera. For example, in sub-Saharan Africa Over half of hospital beds
are taken by those suffering with preventable diarrhoeal illnesses. Malnutrition is exacerbated by unsafe water resources and sanitation
facilities.
